Greenwood, a 1969 graduate of Eugene’s Churchill High, will start his senior year at the University this fall. He is studying community servicd and public affairs. In 1971 Greenwood was one of the principal organizers of the Eugene-Springfield Walk for Development which raised over $50,000 for people suffering from hunger and poverty. Houser scheduled for trumpet recital University student Christopher Houser is giving a trumpet recital Thursday, July 6, at 8 p.m. Houser received his Bachelor of Music Education and In. strumental Performance Degree from the University in June, 1971. He taught music at a Bremerton, Wash., high school during the school year and is now attending summer school here. He will play the music of Barney Childs, William Prunty, Pierre Gabaye, and Aaron Copland - Kennedy, among others The recital will be at the Music School Recital Hall. The public is invited free of charge. AslO sponsors free outdoor turns The public is invited to two evenings of free showings of outdoor films at the University. Today, the Outdoor Program of the ASUO will sponsor the showing of the feature-length film, ‘‘Americans on Everest" along with the 30-minute film "Gold Medal Sailors” and "Wild River " The program will begin at 8 p.m. in 180 PLC. On Tuesday, July 11, three conservation films will be shown, beginning at 8 p.m., in 138 Commonwealth, at a meeting of the Siem Club to which the public is invited. HEW funds Gerontology Center Helping older people face retirement realistically and with con fidence is the goal of a program developed by the Oregon Center for Gerontology, and funded recently by the Administration on Agingof the U S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare. The HEW grant of $96,489 is for the first year of a five-year program for developing and evaluating pre-retirement education programs in business, industry and government, and in other in stitutions such as senior centers and churches. Dr. Frances Scott, director of the Oregon Center for Gerontology in the University’s College of Education will direct the project, along with U. Vincent Manion and Donna McKenzie, both Gerontology Center staff members. According to Dr. Scott, three types of pre-retirement programs will be studied. The first is a lecture series directed at those facing retirement, the second type includes some group discussion, and the third is described as human relations counseling in which group members learn from each other with direction from an experienced leader. Shakespeare authority visits class John T. Campbell, noted Shakespeare authority and actor, will be visiting professor Rocket’s Shakespeare class Thursday, July 6 el 11:30 a m. Campbell has appeared on numerous programs on television in the past 2‘/4 years, from "A Fine Frenzy” on national tour to the title role of Hamlet in "Hamlet: Fall of a Sparrow" and more recently.in an improvisational cameo as the fool in “This Great Stage of Fools" Campbell spent his childhood in Ashland where he had seen all of Shakespeare’s plays acted while still in his teens. He made his acting debut in Ashland’s 1956 production of “Richard III." Campbell is in Eugene this week to' publicize "Vacation Shakespeare” a two week study course complete with special classes, dramatic workshops, seminars and a three day trip to the Oregon Shakespearean Festival for all the plays. [ Community KZEL-FM announces return to air KZEL-FM returned to the air Monday morning following four days of silence. The station is broadcasting 35,000 watts once again at 96.1 KHz. The station was off the air because of transmission line failure. All regularly scheduled programs will be broadcast throughout the coming week. Forest vehicle regulations available The Willamette National Forest now has available a listing of off road vehicle regulations for motor vehicle use within the Forest Copies of the regulations can be obtained at the forest headquarters, 210 E. 11th Ave. and at all Willamette National Forest Ranger Stations. The order closes the new McKenzie River Trail to off-road vehicles and horses. All other trails and areas listed in the order were closed previously. Off-road vehicles are prohibited or restricted in the Waldo Lake Recreation Area and on 46 trails, including the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail. Under the Wilderness Act of 1964, all units of the National \\ ilderness Preservation System are closed to motorized use F°r U* Willamette National Forest, the Mt. Jefferson, Mt. Washington. Three sisters and Diamond Peak Wilderness areas are covered by this Act
