Miss Woo will play two Scarlatti sonatas, a Beethoven sonata and one of Schumann’s most famous collections of miniatures, “Fan tasiestucke, Op. 12.” The recital is part of Miss Woo’s work toward a Bachelor of Music degree. There is no admission charge for the program. Kite-flying event scheduled There is going to be a festive kite-flying event open to all members of the campus community Tuesday, April 18. Students are urged to start making their kites, Don Shaifer of the Dept, of Architecture, said. There will be prizes awarded in nine contest categories. The in flight classes include: highest flying, most graceful, largest, longest tailed, and first tree snag. Pre-flight classes feature: most unusual, most attractive, best construction and other, according to Shaifer. The gathering is to take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the mall area bounded by the library, PLC, the art museum and 13th St. The event will be post-poned in case of rain or snow. “Pray for wind and be sure to use cotton or nylon string; other types can be hazardous,” Shaifer said. SEARCH prom slated Friday night the EMU will be the scene of the first prom at the University since the early ‘60’s. Sponsored by Friends of SEARCH, “The Last Kiss,” will run from 8:30 until midnight. Admission is 75c per person. According to Bruce Micklus, who is organizing the dance, the affair is ‘formal, but not so formal as to scare people away.” Micklus said that dance contests will be held, with the prizes ranging from a pair of fuzzy dice to jars of butchwax. There will also be a photographer at the prom to take pictures of the couples in all their splendor. Funds raised from the dance will go to SEARCH. New PL-3 program to be aired A new TV program is starting today on PL-3, the University TV station broadcast on cable channel 10. The new show is called “In Touch,” and will be a community-student access live show on Thur sday each week, at 8:30 to 10:30 p.m.—featuring: community agen cies, groups and activities, local politics, drama, poetry, music and personalities. The goal is to communicate ideas and images not appearing in media now and to increase peoples’ awareness of current talent and happenings. The first show will have: a local rock band, poetry by Jean Swain, Energy Faire preview, Willamette People’s Co-op problems, Movement Confidential, and a weekend preview of local events. ( Community Wind ensemble to perform tonight The University Symphonic Wind Ensemble will perform with the Sheldon High School Band tonight at Sheldon High School in Eugene. The performance will begin at 8:00 p.m. There will be no ad mission charge. International gourmet to speak James Beard, internationally famous gourmet, cook, teacher and consultant, will present a cooking demonstration tonight at North Eugene High School Auditorium. The visit, sponsored by the University Art Museum’s Friends of the Museum and Meier and Frank of Eugene, begins at 8 p.m. Topic for Beard’s demonstration is “Gourmet Cooking on SmaU Appliances.” Tickets for the cooking program are $2.50.
