Two SAB positions open
Two positions on the Student Administrative Board are now open
and applications are available for the positions, SAB chairman Hamid
Khan said Monday.
SAB has 14 positions, of which 12 are now filled, Khan said. Ap
plications for the remaining two positions can be picked up at the SAB
office, 306 EMU.
The board determines policies for scheduling events for
recognized student agencies on campus.
AFT organizing scheduled
An organizing meeting for all faculty members interested in the
American Federation of Teachers (AFT) will be held at 8 o’clock
tonight in the EMU.
David Curland, senior instructor in romance languages, said the
AFT could prove attractive to young untenured faculty and those
faculty members who don’t belong to the American Association of
University Professors (AAUP) or the Oregon State Employees
Association (OSEA).
Curland said topics of discussion will include present promotion
and tenure policies, salary differentials and the role of the faculty in
decision-making.
Basketball tickets on sale
Students may purchase tickets this week to two of Oregon’s final
three home contests. Tickets for Friday night’s game with Washington
and Saturday afternoon’s contest with Washington State are on sale at
the McArthur Court ticket booth for $1 today and Wednesday until 5
p.m. Reserve seats can be obtained at the Athletic Department ticket
office through Friday.
Painter exhibiting at EMU gallery
An exhibition of paintings by Sandra McKee will be featured at the
EMU Art Gallery Feb. 28 through March 17. Ms. McKee, who was born
in Cleveland, Ohio, moved to Eugene in 1969.
She has also exhibited her works at the University Rental Gallery
and the New World Coffee House.
Farmer to give concert tonight
A concert of works for the Piano will be given by Charles Farmer
at 8 p.m. tonight. Farmer is an assistant professor of music at the
University.
The program in the Music School Recital Hall, will include
“Sixteen Waltzes,” by Brahms, “Variations, Op. 27” by Webern,
“Noctuelles” and “Alborado del gracioso” by Ravel and “Sonata in B
minor” by Liszt.
There is no admission charge for the concert.
AFROTC head visiting campus
Brigadier General B. B. Cassiday Jr., Commandant of the Air
Force Reserve Officers Training Corps, headquartered at Maxwell
Air Force Base, Ala., will be a visitor to the University campus today.
Arriving at the University around 12:30 p.m., Gen. Cassiday will
be meeting with administrators, interviewing students, and touring
the campus.
In his position as commandant of AFROTC, Gen. Cassiday heads
the Air Force’s largest continuing source of career officers. He works
with institutions of higher education in 47 states and Puerto Rico. He
has held the assignment since August, 1969.
Financial aid applications due
Today is the last day for students to turn in applications for
financial assistance for the 1972-73 academic year.
Applications for such aid should be returned to the Office of
Financial Aid, Emerald Hall, according to acting Director of
Financial Aid Larry Large.
The forms have been available for the past three months to
students currently enrolled in the University and to high school seniors
who plan to attend the University next fall.
