It was the condition of their scholarships to study in America that they return to Egypt and devote their energies to developing their homeland.” He remembers Sidky as a “good student” who was interested in urban planning, management and administration. The new prime minister went to Harvard for two years after he left the University and, according to news reports, obtained a Ph. D. there. He first entered the Egyptian cabinet in 1956. University enrollment down This term’s enrollment at the University dropped 200 from last winter term’s figures. According to officials, the University’s enrollment at the close of formal registration Friday was 14,493 compared to 14,691 students at this time last year. The decreased enrollment this year has marked the end of the period of steady growth that has continued through the 1960s. The declining number of students has been attributed to numerous factors by State System of Higher Education Officials including easing of draft regulations, the economic recession, higher tuition and general disillusionment with society and with formal education on the part of some students. The radio show will be broadcast live from the Laurelwood Country Club at 7 p.m. and carried over KZEL-FM, 96.1. SUAW to meet Students Union Against the War will meet in 107 Lawrence at 7:30 p.m. tonight. At 7 p.m. “Winter Soldier’’ will be shown. After the meeting, the film “Homage to Ho Chi Minh” will be shown. It will be a planning and discussion meeting. Ideas gotten over the last months will be discussed. Chamber choir to perform The University Chamber Choir, directed by Neil Wilson, will appear in concert at 8 tonight in the University School of Music Recital Hall. The choir will present selections from the Baroque period, in cluding English and Italian madrigals. Two German sacred choral works are on the program “Deautsches Magnificat” by Shutz for double chorus, and Bach’s widely known motet, “Jesu meine Freude.” There is no admission charge for the concert. f Community Swami to speak Swami Satchidananda will speak at 8 tonight at the Wesley Center, 1236 Kincaid on the topic “Man’s True Nature.” Satchidananda is founder-director of the Integral Yoga Institute, an international organization dedicated to serving mankind through yoga. There will be a donation of $1.50 for each lecture. ^ hite Bird benefit scheduled A musical benefit for the White Bird Medical Clinic will be held at 8 p m tonight at the Odyssey Coffee House. featured are Monty Fischer, Western ballads; recording artist Kathy Smith at the Piano; Joe Baker at the epiphone; Jean Kent, blue and t unings; Chris Owens at the harp; and a collection of new songs by Eric Park. A donation of 50cents will be asked.
