Seniors Ron Riley (6-8), Joe Mackey (6-6) and Paul W'estphal (6-4) all are averaging nearly 20 points per game They will be complemented by 6-10 senior Bill Tavlor and 6-2 sophomore Dan Anderson. The Trojans were upset by Arizona State and lost to nationallv-ranked Pennsylvania in their only defeat^ Hopefully UCLA will be so tired from its Friday night t ussle with Oregon State that it will be able to score onlv 170 points or so against Oregon Saturday night. ' Anyone who knows dribble from dropkick also is probably well versed in Coach John Wooden s success story: Seven NCAA Championships in the last eight years, including the last five. ' There is absolutely no truth to the rumor that the Bruin players wear black masks and carry hatchets, even if they have executed eight straight opponents, including nationally-ranked Ohio State this year. The Bruins have more talent that you could shake a Bill Walton at. Walton is the 6-11 sophomore who you’ll probably see in March at the NCAA Championships. He’ll be easy to spot: he’ll be wearing a net. The Bruin’s big man is averaging 20 points a game and has made more than 60 per cent of his shots. Walton however, might not be seen in Mac Court Saturday. He’s been sidelined all week with a strep throat. Unfortunately, though, Coach John Wooden has his usual gaggle of gorillas and gazelles in support. You’ll remember the Bruin’s 6-1 guard Henry Bibby as the guy who pickpocketed Bill Drozdiak to give the Uclans a 69-68 victory over the Ducks last year in Eugene. Well he’s back, along with junior Larry Farmer (6 5) and a couple sophomores, 6-6 Keith Wilkes and 6-4 Greg Lee. The Bruins have rolled over theii opposition by an average of 40 points this year, while scoring 108 points per game. If there is a bright spot for Oregon, it is that this will be the Bruins first road trip of the season. With two and maybe three sophomores in their lineup, the Uclans might be rattled by adverse crowds. All told, it looks like a fun evening for the Ducks. The whole country can join the levity, as the game will be beamed nation-wide by an independent network starting at 8:30 p.m. It might be the first x-rated television show in history Page 5
