Board member suggests new OSPIRG hearing While both the finance and Academic Affairs Committees of the State Board of Higher Education declined to take specific action on a proposal to establish funding guidelines for 0SP1RG, one Board member thinks the whole OSPIRG issue should be reconsidered. John Snider, Board member from Medford, suggested during Monday's Academic Committee meeting that the Board recon sider its March 9 decision to allow the Oregon Student Public In terest Research Group to follow traditional incidental fee funding processes on state campuses. The Board was “sloppy in doing our job,” Snider said of the earlier 5-4 vote which approved OSPIRG. The proposal would give the Board power to review the OSPIRG budget on a quarterly basis in addition to an annual audit of the organization's books. The Board would collect in cidental fee funds designated for OSPIRG on individual campuses and then negotiate a contract with OSPIRG for allocation of the money. The proposal was opposed by OSPIRG leaders, who said Tuesday they felt the issue could be resolved informally between OSPIRG and the chancellor’s office. But discussion of the proposal prompted Snider to suggest a complete rehearing of the OSPIRG issue at the next full Board meeting April 30 in Monmouth Berrigan film to be shown Friday night “Father Dan Berrigan—the Holy Outlaw,” a film depicting the Father's philosophy of civil disobedience and history of war protests, will be shown at 8 p.m. on Friday, April 9 in Harris Hall, 125 E. 8th Ave. Admission to the film, spon sored by the Student's Union, will be 50c. Daniel Berrigan, a forty-nine year old Jesuit priest and Cornell faculty member, is in prison. His crime was participation in the destruction of draft records with napalm and fire in Catonsville, Maryland The film includes footage of the Catonsville incident in 1968, but also relates the significance of the event and Berrigan's sub sequent experience as a fugitive from the FBI. The action in Catonsville was symbolic.
