This money was to be used for per sonnel (typists, secretaries, reporters), materials (paper, envelopes, stamps), processes (printing of the “Black Manifesto” and telephones) and functions (bail project). After some discussion, the committee made some cuts in the budget proposal. The new proposal to be put before the Senate totals $1350 with $600 for personnel, $400 for materials and the remainder for processes. One thousand dollars for the bail project was cut completely. It was felt by the committee that, it was not the duty of the ASUO to use monies to get people out of jail, whether they were students or not. The Native American Program, in submitting a request for money for tutors, explained that the request came in an emergency situation. Just before the end of fall term, the program ran out of funds. So far, no money has been raised this term, although the Native Americans have researched donations from large business firms around the city. An original request included $300 for the purchase of dic tionaries and other reference books, and a set of Footnotes from all of the classes that provide such service and a member of the program is enrolled in. Finally, the committee decided $300 should be given to the Chicano Student Union (CSU).
