Positions open for SPI board There are openings for upper division or graduate students, preferably with a liberal arts background, on the Board of Directors of Student Projects, Inc., the ASUO’s non-profit corporation. According to Walker Edens, President of the organization, anyone interested in a position on the board should contact him at phone extension 3729 or room 309 EMU. ASUO President Ron Eachus will make the final decision on appointments. A member of the Board of Directors is expected to attend monthly policy-making meetings, contributing ideas for new projects, Edens said. Projects already planned for this academic year include creating a student marketing division, setting up concessions at University events and publishing Footnotes, the class lecture notes. New board members will not be tied down to administering previously conceived projects, however; they will be en couraged to come up with “new, creative approaches," he said. “This is a good opportunity for students to get work experience with a bonafide enterprise." Edens said Student Projects, Inc. has had a growth rate of 105 per cent since its inception and he anticipates the organization’s various projects will bring in $45,000 this year. The profits will be used to subsidize other ASUO programs. Board members will earn an honorarium for their service, the amount of which is yet to be determined.
