my Award. He has four nom

The results of the record
academy vote will be revealed
on “The Best on Record—the
Grammy Show” May 5 on NBC
TV.

artist was born in Larez, Puerto
Rico. He has performed in Eng

SALEM (A1) — The Oregon
House completed legislative ac
tion today on the 3 per cent
sales tax that will be put on the
special election ballot June 3.
The 32-28 vote for the meas
ure on repassage came after t lie
House had accepted all of the
changes that the Senate made
in the four-bill package.
In the House’s first vote 10
days ago, the count also was
32-28.
Since then, Rep. Connie Me
Cready, R-Portland, switched
from no to yes and Rep. Mor
ris Crothers, R-Salem, switch
ed from yes to no.
The House had to vote again
because of the Senate changes.
It voted 36-24 for the bill to
put the sales tax money into
property tax relief and 39-21
for the bill setting up the spe
cial election.
