Board Views Frantic SU Action in Slapstick Film By JAQI THOMPSON Kmrrulri staff Wrltrr The Student Union Board pass ed a motion Wednesday alloeat ing room 309 SU to office space for the ASUO. ASUO President Henry Drum monds will decide which ASUO programs will use the room. The hoard has the right to review his decision. A nine-minute film entitled "An Editorial Comment on the Erh Memorial Student Union” was shown the hoard. The film cov ered all aspects of the SU. It was shown at 24 frames per sec ond, which is 24 times faster than it was shot, to “show the crowded conditions of the build ing and the pressure,” said Board Green's 'China' Slated Saturday “China,” a widely - acclaimed documentary filmed on the main land of China, will he presented at 3 and 8:30 p.m. Saturday in 150 Science. The film is sponsored by the campus Students for a Democratic Society. Price of admission is 75 cents. Felix Greene, who wrote and produced the films, is an inter nationally-known authority on Bed China He covered roughly 15,000 miles in 1964, talking with political figures, factory workers, students, and peasants in an at tempt to present an accurate pic ture of everyday life in modern China. Juried Exhibition To Include Sale A juried exhibition of paintings, drawings, and prints by Oregon artists will be sponsored by the Friends of the Museum. Museum of Arts at the University today thrugh Oct. 29. The exhibit, “Living With Art,” will be open to the public during store hours at Rubenstein's Fur niture Store, 115 E. 8th Ave. During the ten-day show, mem bers of the Friends of the Mu seum and the Junior Service League will conduct sales of the works. r Member Ken Settlemler who filmed and edited the film. Pace Furious The movie began with student* going in and out the front doors at a furious pace, and moved to shots of the Fishbowl where stu dents talked, ate, and smoked as if there would be no tomorrow. Downstairs bowling pins were knocked down and pool balls dls appeared at an incredible rate. A haircut took no more than one second, if that much. Back at the cafeteria a dozen hamburgers were swooped off the griddle at one time, and gobbled down almost that fast. Two of i the students eating and talking were last year’s ASUO president, Steve Goldschmidt, and his vice president, Tom Clark. Results Humorous Other scenes showed hectic transactions at the main desk, stu dents sleeping in the Taylor ; I.ounge, third floor office scenes, what must have been the short | cst banquet ever, and countless ! other functions of the SU, all at a frantic run-run pace. The result, said Sanford Tep ; fer, was "artistic and humorous,” | and "captures the spirit of the i union." The board gave permission for a 10-min ute Homecoming skit to be per formed at 11 a.m. Friday in the Fishbowl.
