Over Weekend Losses Disappointment Runs High By PAUL POLSKY Emerald Sports Writer The place was the same as last week; the faces too, but this time they weren't as happy. Coaches Norm Chapman and Len Casanova this week had de feats to speak about, while scout Bruce Snyder gave an awesome report on the Idaho Vandals. The scene was the weekly meet ing of the Oregon Club at the Eugene Hotel. Norm Chapman's Ducklings sort of “set the stage" Friday afternoon by fumbling on the seven yard line to set up the OSU Rooks’ field goal with 30 seconds left. The Rooks won, 3-0. The following day, the Ducks fell at the hands' of the Wash ington Huskies, when Mike Barnes was hit on the three and fumbled, giving the Huskies an eventual touchdown and the winning mar gin. “We didn't play well; I don’t think we were ready, and that is my fault,” said Chapman. “I'm to blame.” Chapman felt that quarterback IM Schedule Intramural wrestling began Monday with Beta Theta Pi and Delta Upsilon taking the early lead with 11 points each. Their hopes were virtually ex anguished Sunday, however, when they were dealt a 30-7 loss by the league-leading Ramblers. According to Bomber coach Jack Crabtree, it was basically inexperience that cost his team the game. He said mistakes were made “not only by the ballplayers but by the coaches.” Crabtree still feels Eugene is “as good a team as Seattle.” In previous games, he noted, the j Bombers have shown more poise, i “We sure didn’t show it Sunday, though,” he said, and “I can't really offer much explanation for it.” Among others, Crabtree singled out halfback Bob Officer, a South Eugene graduate, and linebacker Tim Casey, a former Oregon star, for their play against Seattle. He Sigma Chi Wins Via Pass Attack Quarterback Barry Klein pass ed for one touchdown and ran for another to lead Sigma Chi to a 13-0 win over Alpha Tau Omega Monday for the 1966 intramural touch football championship. Both of Klein’s scores came in the third quarter—and broke up what unti lthen had been a strong defensive struggle. Defensive back John Ripper briefly halted a Seattle TD drive in the fourth quarter, when he picked off a Rambler aerial on his own four-yard line. The next play, however, a Daniels pass was intercepted The Bomber defense held Seattle at the two, but the kicking team made a field goal. Their player loses didn't hurt; it sort of helped in a way." Cas also felt that his offense didn’t move well, but contributed this to the Huskies fine punting. “Their kicking hurt us more than anything. We couldn’t get in good position to use our entire of fense." Asked why he inserted Brun dage in the waning moments of I the game.
