By JAQI THOMPSON fCin«‘rul<1 Mutt Writer Student Union policy govern ing the public address system was revised by the SU Board Wed nesday. The revision includes (he fol lowing points: • The public address unit is made available to enable per sons engaged in speeches, de bates, and discussions to make themselves heard. It is not in tended to be used for program promotion or advertising pur poses. • Because it is the intention of the Board to have the pub lic address unit available for use at all times, it Hhould be return ed to the main desk when not in actual use as specified in the other parts of the policy. The Board also selected Paul Finlay as Movie Committee chair man and Mark Stephens as Per sonnel Committee chairman. Stephens was also chosen as a delegate to the Association of College Unions conference to be held at the University October 20 22. Dr. William Lawton, a Kugene physician, was approved as Uni versity ski coach. Lawton has coached at Montana State Uni versity and has competed twice j in national skiing competition. The Board also gave special I permission for recordings of Marc and Andre, a French sing ing duet, to be sold in the SU at the same time as their concert i November 9 in the Ballroom. Ordinarily no commercial en ' terprises whatsoever are allowed in the SU, but in this case the recordings are not available com mercially in the United States. Record sales after the concert are the only means students have ; to obtain a recording. This, plus ! the fact that the concert is be ing held in conjunction with the French department, was enough justification to permit records to 1 be sold, the Board felt. Tickets for the Marc and An dre concert are $1.75 each. The Board also granted per mission for a Homecoming ban ner to be hung from the third floor of the SU facing 13th Ave nue, for two weeks before Home coming. Campus Announcement* for Campus Briefs must be turned in by 3 p.m. the day before publication. Because of space limitations no announcements will be run more than twice. The Iranian Student Association will sponsor a reception-tea for new Irani an students at 7 p.m. Sunday In the SU. Petition* for the Greater Oregon program are now available outside tt>om 301 in the SU. Attempts are being made to organize a campus returnee group and to plan a reception for the national AFS Di rector of Returnees on October 20.
