Diamond Team Sets Husky Series By BILL MORRIS Sports News Editor Coach Don Kirsch cautioned his baseball team that weekend foe Washington will be no pushover. "1 thought the team may let up a tittle since we beat Washing ton six times in Northern Division play last year." said Kirsch. “so 1 reminded them that the two play ers who contributed the most to those victories are not with us this year." Kirsch was referring to Keith Lampard and Don Banderas who were particularly outstanding against the Huskies. "Lampard went 10-19. including three hom ers. and Banderas stole five bases during the series." Kirsch re called. The Ducks play the Huskies three games during the weekend, playing a single game Friday at 3 p in . and a doubleheader be ginning at 1:30 on Saturday at Howe Field Currently the Huskies are 11-6 on the season, with a 1-2 record in Northern Division competition Last weekend they established their conference record against pre-season favorite Washington State Kirsch pointed out that all three games were close, which indicated to the Duck mentor that the Huskies will be tough. Washington lost 12 seniors last year, and are in the midst of a rebuilding year. Coach Ken Leh man believes that most of the returnees are inexperienced or sophomores, but they have good team speed and hitting power. Two year lettermen shortstop Doug Sherry and outfielder Char ley Johnson are the mainstays in the Washington lineup Outstand EMERALD SPORTS PAC Track Stats 100 Norm Jackson.
