This means about 30 per cent of the total cost of these pro jects will come from federal funds The rest of the money will come from the state. Duncan to Speak At SU Thursday Donald Duncan, the Green Beret who attacked the war in Viet Nam in Ramparts magazine, will speak at the University Thursday. Duncan, a much-decorated for mer sergeant in the U.S. special forces in Viet Nam, will speak at 8 p.m. in the Student Union. He left the United States Army in September, 1965, after 10 years of service, including six years in the Special Forces and eighteen months on active combat duty in Viet Nam. While in Viet Nam he received the South Vietnamese Silver Star, the Combat Infantry Badge, the Bronze Star, and the United States Army Air Medal. He was nomi nated for the American Silver Star and was the first enlisted man in Viet Nam to be nominated for the Legion of Merit. Both nominations are still pending. He participated in many mis sions behind enemy lines in War Zone D, Vung Tao and the An Khe Valley. Last March he turned down the j offer of a field commission to the rank of captain. Instead he left Viet Nam on September 5, 1963 and received his honorable dis charge four days later. He was the subject of a cover story in the March edition of “Ramparts” magazine.
