    Wrestlers Host OCE, PSC Vikings

If last weekend’s road trip for
the Oregon wrestling squad was
any indication of things to come,
then things just might be looking
up for the Ducks.
The Webfoot squad hosts Ore
gon College of Education Friday
night and Portland State Satur
day night in McArthur Court
after having increased its dual
meet record to 3-2 with two wins
during the journey to eastern
I Oregon and Washington.
“Things are starting to shape
i up real well,” said varsity head
j coach Art Keith Thursday. “1
think that road trip helped. We’ve
1 worked on takedowns and now
we're getting some response.”
Oregon stopped Washington
State and Eastern Oregon College
: on the road and the work on the
takedowns was probably one of
' the top reasons for the wins.

"The boys arc petting confident
in their ability to pet the take
down and are shooting for them,
Keith added. He used 123-pound
Grant Henjyoji as an example:
“Henjyoji shot twice in the lirst
ten seconds of his match with
John Kruesi of Eastern Oregon
and got the takedown on the sec
ond one.”
“Exceptionally Tough”
And takedowns, along with an>
other technique of scoring that
can be gained, arc going to be
needed this weekend—more so
Saturday night when the Ducks
take on the Vikings of Portland
State.
“Portland State's exceptionally
tough,” said Keith. "They're
tough in the light weights; in
fact, they’re strong all the way
up and down.”
Rick Sanders is one of the rea
sons. Sanders, a three-time Ore
gon high school state champion,
nabbed an NAIA championship
for the Viks last year and is back
to give strength to the Portland
State light weights.
But Keith can counter with a
couple of defending champions
himself— Doug Robertson at 137
pounds and Bob Mitchell at 107,
both AAWU returning champs
“Real StronR”
“If we can get three of those
first five matches, we'll be in
real good shape,” continued
Keith. “But we've got to do it at
the beginning. They’re going to
hit us real strong.”
Keith viewed the (KKr.oi
match last weekend and was "im
pressed with OCK's desire. They
were outclassed by Eastern Ore
gon, but they carried the tight to
them."
According to Keith, IK Ks I.a
mont Simons, a 137 pounder from
Lebanon, is a real good pros|»eet
