TJie reading, sponsored by the Department of English, will be at 4 p.m. in the Student Union. The public is invited. Ray, an assistant professor in the Department of Literature and Humanities at Reed College, is a graduate of the University of Chicago, where he also received his Master of Arts degree. He has previously taught at Wright Ju nior College, Northern Illinois University, and Cornell Univer sity. Ray’s poems, fiction, and re views have been published in many journals. Ray is currently preparing a new book of poems, entitled "Coming Into Portland." Magazine Announces New Associate Editor Mrs. Lucile Vaughan Payne of : Eugene has been named associ ate editor of the University’s alumni magazine “Old Oregon,” editor Ken Metzler has an nounced. A free-lance writer, Mrs. Payne is the author of the high i school textbook “The Lively Art of Writing” and a collection of previously published short stor ies called “The Boy Upstairs.” As a part-time English instruc | tor at the University from 1961 i to 1964, Mrs Payne taught Eng ■ lish composition and creative ! writing classes. The five members of the Little Colonel Court, chosen by Scab bard and Blade and the Board of Arnold Air Society, will be presented and one will be com missioned Little Colonel. Members of the court include Pam Day, Kappa Alpha Theta, sophomore from Warrenton, Ore.; Janet Hethcote, Willcox Hall, freshman from Napa, Calif.: Kathy Hilson, Pi Beta Phi, sophomore Moll to Read 'Briseis' In Browsing Lecture The epic poem "Briseis" will be read by its author, Ernest G. Moll, professor of English, at 7 p.m. today in the Browsing Room Lecture. “Briseis” is a series of classi cal sonnets dealing with the Tro jan War. In the poem, Briseis is the captured mistress of Achilles. A. K. Weatherhead, associate dean of the college of liberal arts, will act as discussion leader for the lecture. Moll's other books include Sedge Fire, Native Moments, Brief Waters, and Rainbow Ser pent. from Portland; Sue Rathbun, Chi Omega, sophomore from Marys ville, Calif.; and Patty Soule, Did ta Gamma, sophomore from Port land.
