Emerald SPORTS Varsity Bowling Picks Members Eight Oregon students earned spots on the varsity bowling team following tryouts that have been held throughout the past three weeks. These eight join the six mem bers of last year's team to form a doubles league which will be rolled two nights a week on the Student Union lanes. Action be gan Monday night, while the second league will begin Wednes day night. The new team members include Bill Warner, Ed Marges. Arni Fredrickson, A1 Honda, A1 Loney, Dave Amato, Lenny Brown and Bob Abbey. The six varsity mem bers are Jim Parker, Larry Bell, Mike Alford, Mike Crawley, Rod Smith and Dave Young. Rounding out the league as an eighth team will be Pat Wiley and Kent Forrester Coach Lou Bellisimo has a num ber of matches on tap this term in preparation for the Region 14 tournament, which Oregon hosts February 10-12. Oregon has won the tourney ten of the past 13 years, including last year’s com petition in Seattle. The varsity held two inter squad matches last Saturday. Loney shot the top series with a 633 Other 600 s rolled were by Alford, 624; Parker, 621; and Bell, 619 IM Managers Set Weigh-in, Draws IM managers are urged to pick up entry blanks for the IM wrestling competition beginning Oct. 26. The entry blank is due in the IM office (135 PE) by 5 p.m. Monday. The official weigh-in will take place 3:45-5:30 p.m. Oct. 20-21 in the PE locker room. In IM football. Doug Flansburg of Washington State, last week’s leader, didn’t snag a pass in the Cougar’s game with Villanova and slipped to second place. Bunker has gained 355 yards and three touchdowns on 18 passes while Flansburg has totaled 211 on 17. Oregon halfback Scott Cress, catching nine aerials, has also scored three TDs on passes and totaled 108 yards through the air. Begin ners will attend at 7 and advanc ed students at 8. The club also meets Monday at 5 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. in the University’s P. E. depart ment. First competition is set for Nov. 6 at Richland, Wash. Ski Quacks Meet All interested skiers are invited to the annual first meeting of the Ski Quacks, Oregon’s ski club, Thursday at 7 p.m. in the SU. Lewis has totaled 665 yards. Garret 659 and Trovato 576. Gar rett has gained 647 yards of his total on the ground, a situation that is unique to this particular category. Garrett, obviously, leads in rushing with 647 yards, way ahead of runner-up Pete I’ifer of Ore gon State with 380 Garrett also leads the PAC scoring race with seven touchdowns and 42 points. Cress trails in second place with five TDs and 30 points.
