Peruvians Praise Two JFK Proarams I wo main weasnesses in tnc Alliance for Progress anil Peace Corps programs in Peru were brought out by visiting Peruvian students Thursday at the Inter national Coffee Hour The students, guests of the US State Department, praised the two programs initiated by the late President Kennedy. Although the Alliance for Prog gress program has played a "most important” role in Peru, the students agreed that the funds given by the U S. are not being used for the people as a whole. The distribution of U S money is presently administered by the Peruvian government. This ar rangement has not horn suffi cient, the students said. As Americo Infantas, one of fhe students, pointed out, it is the hope of the students that, the I S would choose to supervise the distribution of the money. Infantas said that more money should go to education instead of to industries, for “only through education will the so-called un developed countries rise.” Felipe Castilla said the Alli ance for Progress program has furnished the monetary means to develop the industries and the agricultural production of Peru The students said the Peace Corps project in Peru has been a “wonderful idea." but would be tor the finest in . . .
