The rescheduling of rush acti vities to prevent their coinci dence with the orientation week was approved by President Ar thur Flemming earlier in the year, and Greater Oregon’s pro posed program has eliminated two of the four traditional all freshmen assemblies. The Deans’ Assembly and the Registration Information Assem bly were axed in the committee’s new schedule of events. In place of the Registration In formation Assembly, dormitory counselors will be asked to advise the new students in their units on procedures for registration. According to Jim Lussicr, chairman of the Greater Oregon Committee, the change was sug gested on the assumption that it "will give freshmen a chance to ask questions about those phases of registration which are unclear” and thereby facilitate a better un derstanding of the entire process. In place of the Deans’ Assem bly, the Dean of Men and the Dean of Women will be intro duced to the new students during the President’s Convocation, one of the two required assemblies left on the program. The Greater Oregon Assembly is the other still scheduled meet ing. Lussier said the stress of next fall’s New Student Week will be on orientation to campus life and class activities. The committee’s proposal must meet the final approval of all participating school departments and officials before becoming of ficial. New Student Week is scheduled for September 24-29. with classes beginning on the 30th.
