new colors, and styles in women's
clothing. Each spring pastel col
ors, more feminine shapes, and
airier, lighter fabrics come in

in this general warmer-weather
trend are more specific, more in
dividual.
These finer distinctions in style
make each year's styles different
and newer than last year's. Ob
servance of these finer distinc
tions in style is what gives a wo
man the fashion polish, the strik
ing look which transcends the
average and makes her stand out.
This year's fashion points cover
everything from basics to acces
sories.
SKIRTS: The biggest news this
spring is the casual wear skirt, a
wrap-around, not full, barely
flared, and ultra-simple. City

SHOES: Cut-away shoes are
coining in for summer, some with
cut-out backs, most with cut-out
sides. The stacked heel, whether
flat or high, is a must. Heels
should never be too high; the
spike heel is out. The straight

and coffee colors (black only for

COLORS: The ice-cream shades
are prevalent, no bright, vivid,
, shocking shades. French vanilla,
moca, bronze, leafy green, and
quiet, subtle pastels replace the
majenta, turquoise, chartreuse,
and pink-oranges of last spring.
For city-wear navy and cranberry
; red sparked with starchy white

the daytime only if it is with lots

BAGS: Handbags are small
again but not clutch size for day
time. Gone are the big, square
! satchels which became catchalls.
Bags are back to softer, rounded
; corners, sometimes accented with
bamboo or brass handles. Bag

the shoes.
HATS: Straw, whether shiny or
matte-finish, takes precedence
over any other fabric for hats.

flatter the newest hairstyles.

and the fitted shift take the lead
in spring shapes. Dress and coat
