University officials have not yet decided what the new method of compu tation will be. The present GPA schedule (which is printed elsewhere on this page) has been standard | since at least 1943 and a similar list may date back to 1908, ac cording to Clifford L. Constance, i University registrar. Purpose of the change is to i provide a uniform method of com I puling the grade point average j for all living organizations. At present, fraternity grade | point averages are calculated to include pledge class members in : dormitories while sorority grades only include those women who live within the house. It is assumed that freshmen ' earn lower- grades than do upper classmen. If this is so, then fra ternities would tend to be rated much lower than sororities, al though upper class grades might < be somewhat similar. Because of the different meth ods of computation, discrepancies SPE undergrads lead in grades Sigma Phi Epsilon placed first : in fraternity undergraduate 1 grades during the 1959-60 school * year with an average of 2.585 ! with 3369 total hours. Second in grades was Tau Kap pa Epsilon with 2.577 with 2414 total hours. Third was Phi Kappa i Psi with a GPA of 2.472. The Phi ' Psi's had a total of 3073 hours. The yearly averages for all un dergraduate men was 2.460. All [ fraternity average was 2.399. 3—r— Pledges' grades for women given Alpha Xi Delta led the women's I pledge class grades for spring term with a 3.118 average.
