or violence. It is clear, he wrote,
that such persons are not entitled
to nor should not receive funds
from the United States Govern
ment.
Fleming then pointed out that
the requirement will not uncover
any such persons, since “Such
persons have no scruples about
signing such an affidavit and
taking such an oath.”
His final point is that “The in

special treatment without making
a contribution to national safety.”
Senate recommends
that Review continue
ASUO Senate approved a re
port on the Northwest Review
Thursday night which recom
mended that the Review continue
to be published because of its
“considerable quality.”
Submitted by Steve Hintz, sen
ator-at-large, the report was
drawn up by a committee of Mike
Hollister, Jim Lynch, Margaret
Reedy, and faculty members John
Hulteng, associate professor of
journalism; E. R. Bingham, asso
ciate professor of English, and
Sylvan Karchmer, chairman of
the Student Publications Board.
The Review was commended
for its considerable advancement
toward filling a "cultural void”
in the Northwest since its estab
lishment three years ago and for
its good reputation in literary
circles.
Passed unanimously, the report
recommended that the Review
strive to include more student
work and more work oriented to
the Northwest area.
The report also recommended
that the ASUO Senate review the
magazine in four years.
