PCC golfers tee off Friday The Kugone Country Club la the Hite for the I960 Pacific Coast Conference team and Individual Golf Championships, with nine six-man aquada competing for bertha in the NCAA Golf Champ lonahlpa at Houston. Squads atarted checking in Wednesday for the two day affair which begins Friday at 7:30 a.m. Arriving today arc UCLA and the powerful defending FCC champs, U8C, along with the rest of the field. This year's match shapes up as one of the most Interesting of the recent PCC Champion ships. Much of the interest stems from the fact that Stanford's surprising Indian golfers pulled a major college golf upset last weekend in Palo Alto, defeating a strong U8C golf team, that had not lost a dual match in the last 55 outings prior to Saturday on the farm. Stanford, along with the Bruins from UCLA and Oregon, round out the field of four major con tenders in this year's conference match. The Indians, last year's run ner up to the powerful Trojan squad, took a respectable seventh In last years NCAA matches won by the University of Houston. Off their strong performance on the farm last weekend, they should definitely be considered the strongest threat to U9t"« Coast gulf supremacy. Not out of the picture by any means are Sid Milligan’s Ducks. The Webfoots will be placing One of the youngest squads in the conference on the green this weekend. With the natural home links advantage, and the squads' rapid progress this season, the Ducks have to be considered close to the Indians as a chal lenger to the veteran Trojan squad. Last year's third place finisher, UCLA In expected to show well In the final results by experience and a good season slate In their favor. Other entrants In the 1959 tournament are Oregon Htate, Washington, Washington State, Idaho and California.
