Ghost in AAA? 'Me too/ says co-ed By ARLENE SAUNDERS Emerald Women’s Writer “There's been a ghost in the School of Architecture for a long, long, time,’’ according to Jane de Luccia. Miss de Luccia, a senior in architecture, went on to explain that the ghost's name this year is Gil Farsnow. “He’s just a char acter around here. He submits problems, does papers for history of architecture, receives mail at the school and makes comments when necessary (written of course),” she added. “Each year, no one knows who the ghost actually is" she laughed. Experience gained Miss de Luccia has already had valuable experience in her ma jor. Last summer she was em ployed at Skidmore. Owens, and Merrill, a large architectural firm in Portland. While there, she helped design the Exposition Recreation Build ing. This term she is working on a design for the Eugene Country Club. “It's a proposed bar,” she said. “I was talking to the manager one day and he asked me if I would be interested in submitting something... to come up with any ideas.” “I drew up some plans, talked it over with him, and am work ing on some more. I’ll just keep working back and forth with him until I meet his requirement for the space,” she said. Changed major ‘‘I wanted to go into law, but changed to interior design my sophomore year,” she said. One of the few women majoring in this at the University, Miss de Luccia estimated that she spends at least 20 hours a week at her drafting board. “I practically live in the archi tecture building, or the AAA, as we call it,” she joked. But architecture is not the dark ■brunette’s only interest. She spends a large part of her sum mers teaching horseback riding and training horses. “I’ve ridden since I was nine,” she added. MG-A enthusiast “My real pride and joy though, is the MG-A roadster I received for Christmas last year,” Miss de Luccia said. “I want to drive it in rallies this summer. Some day I hope to graduate to a Fer rari.” Rules hearing set by AWS “This is the only way that we can really get the feeling of the girls on these rules. All women on campus are definitely urged to attend the AWS open hearing," said AWS vice-president Molly Burke. The hearing, designed to pro vide an “airing” of women’s rules, has been set for Tuesday at 4 p.m. in the SU. “We want this to be not only a gripe session, but a question ses sion as well,” Miss Burke said. Members of the AWS cabinet will be present to “answer any questions that are asked,” she said. “Although we want mainly to discuss aws rules, we are wil ling to talk about any rules that affect women,’’ Miss Burke added. “If the rules questioned are not AWS rules, we will try to ex plain where they came from and report what w’e can do about them,” she said. “I hope the girls take advan tage of this,” Miss Burke added. She was suggested by the Sehool of Architecture for “Most Interesting Woman of the Week” column. She said that one morning shortly after she had brought the car to school, she walked out and found a large tinfoil key stuck on the back. “I drove it around like that the rest of the day. I got some of the oddest looks,” she added. Literary president Miss de Luccia is past presi dent of Chi Delta Phi, national literary honorary. She is also the former president of her sorority. Sigma Kappa, and served as sec retary and treasurer of Heads of Houses this year. Her poetry has appeared in the National College Anthology. “I write on the moou I'm in or the way a thing strikes me," she re marked. "If something is pretty or sad, I just write it down."
