OSU REPORT: Monotonous Bucks Just Keep Winning (Editors note: J. Paul Delaney, sports editor of the Ohio State Daily Lantern has written the following pre-game rundown on Buckeye prospects especially for The Emerald.) BY J. PAUL DELANEY OSt' Dally Lantern Sports Ed. Woody Hayes' brand of football has been called dull and monoto nous. But he always comes back with, “we win. don't Ae?" And he is right. His dull, monotonous type of ball has brought tnree titles in tne iasi iour years to the Bucks. During that time, the Bucks have lost only two of 26 conference games. This year, they were rated no higher than fourth by the “ex perts," behind Michigan State. Iowa and Minnesota. But, after a loss to TCU in the opener. Woody brought them through with eight straight wins. Strong Dine The Bucks have a very strong line led by Aurelius Thomas, who has made five all-American teams so far this season. The big light guard stands 6-1 and weighs 204 pounds. He was called a great lineman last year by Red Grange, but, unfortunately, play ed in the shadow of big Jim Parker. A newcomer to break into the starting lineup was Jim Mar shall. The 19-vear-old sophomore is 6-3, weighs 226. He is very quick and makes bruising tack les. He has been compared to former Buck All-American. Bill Willis. Brother of All-American Another sophomore standout is Jim Houston, brother of another former Buck All-American. Lin Houston. He took over the right end position early in the season. The rest of the line is com posed of lettetmen Dick Scha fratch. Bill Jobko, Danny Fronk and co-Capt. Leo Brown. The Bucks have a sturdy bench that has put in much playing time. It includes: John Martin. Birtho Arnold and Al Crawford, tackles; Tom Morgan and Russ Bowermaster, ends; Ernie Spy chalski. LeRoy Cowans, and Tom Baldacci. guards. Bob White, bet ter known at fullback, is some times used at offensive center as is Dan James. Kreinblas Leads Baokfield The Bucks sport a well rounded backfield piloted by Frank Kremblas. The 6-1, 193-pound quarterback throws just enough passes to keep the opposition off guard. He is good on the option and will often call a sneak. He is ■well respected for his cool style and ball handling. Buck runners are led by Don • (Double Clutchi Clark. He is a powerful speedster who was ninth in the nation in rushing • last year. He was headed to a great year when he was injured in the Purdue game. At the time he was leading the conference in rushing, total offense and scor ing. He is expected to be ready for the Rose Bowl game and will '. join Bob White, who carried the Bucks in the last two games.
