Music Students To Give Recital Five students from the Mchool of music arc presenting a varied rmiHlcal recital tonight at X p.m. In the music school’s auditorium. Plano solos will he presented by Karmen Pamroac, who will play “Impromptu In B flat” by Frank Schubert, and Susan Mi nima, whose selections arc "Prac ludlum” by Felix Mendelssohn and 'Minuet In K flat” by Schu bert. Nan Wood Is presenting a flute solo written by J. S. Bach titled "Second Sonata In D flat." Ho bei ta Horning is her accompanist. Baritone Jerry Holloway will give Mendelssohn's ”(> fjod. Have Mercy, from St Paul," and Mar garet M<’Domtld will accompany him. Julia Littlehnles, soprano, will ring "Pleure/. Mes Yeux,” from "I.et’id” by Jules Massenet. Clark, Dean of the Col Icgo of Liberal Art a, spoke on "Edward Taylor: Prototype for Melville's Father Mapple" last night in the Browsing Room series. Clark explained that his main objective was no* to compare Melville's Father Mapple, a char acter in "Moby Dick,” with Ed ward Taylor, but to endeavor to draw a portrait of Taylor an a man. lie said that Tailor, a former sailor, served ns pastor of the Seamen's Bethel in Boston about Ik.'h), The Bethel was a joint on Reserve Officers To Visit ROTC Major General Robert Lee Howe. Jr., Deputy Commanding General for Reserve Forces of the Sixth t'.S. Army, will iris|>eet ROTC facilities and drills at the University of Oregon today. The general will lunch with faculty at the Faculty Club di rectly after his arrival and will observe cadet drills in the after noon. Later he will receive a briefing on the department's or ganization and finally, he will make an inspection of facilities. General Howe has a long war record and has received several medals and decorations. KWAX Open House Scheduled Saturday The KWAX annual Homecom ing open house will be held Sat urday morning, 9-12 am. The open house is sponsored by Kappa Rlio Omicron, campus radio hon orary and will feature tours of the new University television studios a fid radio studios. The tours will be conducted by Jim DWutcher, Jack Boone, and other K.R.O. members. On-the-air Interviews will be held with some of the visitors. The open house will be held dur ing the Marathon. terpriao of the Methodists and UnttarianB, combining the re ligious zeal of the former with the financial practicality of the latter.
