Robert Henkle of Our Savior's Lutheran Church In the Wlllakensie area will address stu dents on “Are Creeda Neces sary ?" at the regular Sunday evening meeting on Oct. 23. The meeting will begin with a coat supper at 5:30. A complimentary luncheon Is served each Wednesday noon by local church women. The firat In a series of talks to be given by local minlaters, lay men, and faculty members on “Why I Believe In God” will be gin Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 12:00. Bible study Is held at 7 p.m. each Thursday. Council meetings are Thursday noon at the Stu dent Center, 1376 Alder St. Christian House The annual ChriHtian House fall retreat will begin Saturday, Oct. 22 at Kitson Springs. Jean Miller, president, will conduct the business, Walter York, wor ship; Jim Wear, recreation; and Greg Calvert, registration. Trans portation will leave Christian House at 8:30 a.rn. and will re turn about 9 p.m. Speaker for the retreat will be Rev. Stanley Barlow who is a Presbyterian student pastor at Westminster House. He will give a review of the interchurch study book on "Revolution and Re demption," one of three ecum enical study books preparatory to the Study Conference at Athens, Ohio, Dee. 27 through Jan. 1. There will be three workshops: Spiritual Growth, led by Jane Copse y Shepard; Outreach, led by Vance Shepard; and Fellow ship and Publicity, led by Lyle Spears. The Sunday program at 9:45 a.m. includes two Bible study groupa led by Dr. Victor P. Morris and Clarence H. Elliott. "Donut Hour'' will be at 9:15. The Christian House choir, led by Duane Mills, will hold re hearsal at 4 :30 Sunduy afternoon. Anyone interested in participat ing is welcome to attend. Dr. George Earle Owen of In dianapolis, Indiana will speak at 5 30 p.m. Sunday evening on "As They Worship." Dr. Owen is a missionary candidate secre tary for the United Christian Missionary society. He served as missionary in Argentina and in the Philippines. The Sunday evening fireaide will be at 9 p.m. with Dr. Wesley Nicholson, president of the local chapter of United Nations asso ciation and pastor of Congrega tional church, speaking on United Nations day. Faculty aa well as students are melcome, and a spe cial invitation is given to stu dents from other lands. Wednesday the executive coun cil meets at 9 p.m. with Jean Miller in charge. The weekly House devotions will be Thursday at 10 p.m. Quakers “The Quaker Visit to Russia" will be the Sunday evening topic for the group of students inter ested in the Religious Society of Friends. Accounts of the ex periences of the Quaker team during their visit in the Soviet • Rally Committee will meet today in the SU to consider card stunts for the Homecoming game. Union will be heard by record ing. Francis Dart will explain friendship effort* between the Russians and Americana in an effort to promote better under standing between nations. Choir rehearsal will be held Thursday evening at 8:30 for all who are interested. Chapel serv ices will follow at 0:30 in the chapel. A Halloween party is being planned for October 29. More in formation will be given at a later date. Westminster Foundation Albiirey Castel!, head of the philosophy department will speak at the Sunday evening supper- 1 forum on "Religion as a Goad to Philosophy.” Supper will be at 5:30 p.m. with a charge of 30 cents pet person. Re.»rrvations are not necessary this week. Sunday evening vespers begin at 6:30 p.m. and forum discussion begins at 7 p.m. Sunday morning study groups meet for coffee at 9:00 a.m., wor ship at 9:30 a.m., and discussion on "Christianity in a World of Revolution” at 9:40 p.m. Rev. Stanley Barlow, Presbyterian chaplain, will lead a discussion group in the study of "Our Ideas About God.” The Wednesday . Supper Club meets at 5:30 p.m. for potluck. fellowship, and discussion on "Christianity and Social Action.” Westminster House has a new look inside as the living room, dining room, large chapel, li brary, and hallways have been re-painted. The house chairman, Ralph Kingman, is organizing house teams and work parties to help keep the new look. Joan Finlayson has bepn ap pointed vespers chairman by the Student Association president, John Gregor. Mimi Goodwin is the new secretary for the asso ciation. Newman Club Newman Club will hold its weekly meeting Sunday at 7:30 p.m. in the SU. Plans for the Halloween dance will be dis cussed. Any interested peieons are welcome to attend.
