Chuck Mitchelmore Chuck's home ts in North Bend ! but on campus he lives in Phila- , delphia House. Majoring in jour /’holo by Fehly nalism, he wants to go into news p a p e r or magazine editorial work. Campus activities take up a great deal of Chuck's time. A few of these activities include membership in the ASUO as a senator-at-large, Skull and Dag ger, band, sports editor of the Kmerald, Air Command Squad ron Kerretary, and YMCA cabi net. He is also a member of Phi Kla Sigma, a scholastic honor ary. Photography and music are his favorite activities when he isn't busy with his campus activities. Joan Palmer A member of Delta Gamma, Joan is from Portland. She is IJhoio by Fchh, majoring in English literature, and her ambition is to be an air line stewardess and travel. Joan takes an active part in campus life and may be seen at the football games as a member! of the rally squad. She is also on the Student Union music com mittee and is in charge of the luncheon for the chairmen of the | Homecoming committees. Last year she was a member of Am phibians and the YWCA. For relaxation Joan enjoys music, and collects records. Dan- i eing and skiing are her other outside interests. Roger Long This Phi Kappa Psi is from Os wego. Roger is majoring in Busi ness Administration, and hopes to go into interior*decorating in the Northwest with a fraternity brother. Roger is assistant wing com mander in the Air Command Squadron honora r y, technical sergeant for the ah’ force sec ond year drill team, and public information officer for the army and air force ROTC for the sec ond year. Also he was co-chair man of the canoe fete property committee. Swimming, water skiing, and writing skits are a few of the many other activities Roger en joys. 'The Whisperers' To Play Dance "The Whisperers,” a local band, has been contracted to play for the Sophomore Whis kerino, being held Saturday even ing, Oct. 22, in the Student Union Hall room. This band appeared at. the University last. year during Greek week and has played for several house dances on campus. The decorations are also under construction for the Whiskerino. According to Diane Raoul-Duval and Jim Highlands, co-chairmen for the decoration committee, the decorations will depict various pre-dance scenes, in the light of a couple’s plans for the dance, and a few scenes from the 'dance itself. It has also been announced that the voting for Betty Coed and Joe College will take place from 9 to 10 p.m. at special ta bles at the door. At the same time the sophomore men will be able to register for the beard growing contest. Prizes and awards will be presented during the intermission show. Tickets for the Sophomore Whiskerino are now on .sale for $1.05 at the Student Union desk and at a special table at the Co op. Campus Briefs • The Oregon Alpine C'luh will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the Student Union. Anyone interested in hik ing or climbing is invited to at tend the meeting. The proposed chmb of Three fingered Jack for this coming weekend will be the main topic for discussion. • Anyone who is interested In working at the Skipworth home is invited to come to a YWCA service meeting today at 4:00 p.m at Gerlinger. The functions and purposes of the Home will be explained at this time. • “Does the. U.N. have a re sponsibility in Algeria?” will be the first topic of a YMCA-YWCA sponsored roundtable scheduled for Thursday at 4 p.m. in the Gerlinger men's lounge. • Theta Sigma Phi. women’s journalism honorary, will meet at 4 p.m. today in the Student Union. All members and pledges are asked to be present. • Sigma Delta Chi, men’s journalism fraternity, will meet today at 4 p.m. in the Eric Allen room. • Members of Hul-O-Kamaa ina will meet at 8 p.m. tonight in Gerlinger hall. The board also recommended a schedule for the ringing of the bells to the music committee. Students can expect to hear the bells from 4:50 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10:30 a m. Sunday. The bells will be rung tentatively on the Tues day and Wednesday preceding Thanksgiving, and from Decem ber 17 to December 20. The recommendations further urged that all University-recog nized organizations submit a date, time, and selections to the music committee at the begin ning of each term. The chairmen of other large scheduled events such as Jr. Weekend. Homecoming, etc., must submit requests one week in abvance. Named as delegates to the Montana confab: Jack Socolofsky, Dick Gray, Lucia Knepper, Marlis Claussen, Dick Hyder, Earbara Berwick, Jeanne Scales, Darlene Leland, and Karen Johnson, alternate. A list of tentative rules for the annual Barbershop Quartet con test given by Jeanne Scales, mu sic committee chairman, gained favorable comment from the board. Under the recommendations, judging would be done by a city of Eugene resident and two School of Music faculty members, except on the night of the finals. On that night, six judges will be used: one member of the school of music faculty; one resi dent from Eugene; and four members of a visiting profes sional quartet. It. was announced at the meet ing that the Millrace committee would meet that night (Wednes day) and that it should have a report for the next board meet ing. Other announcements made at the meeting: • Progressive jazz will be given in small doses at first dur ing Friday at Four gatherings. If the music catches on, more of it will be featured later. • The music listening room will be open soon from 1 to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday and from 7 to 10 p.m., Monday, Tues day. and Thursday. • SU board executives will meet October 31, at 4 p.m. in the board chairman’s office at 4 p.m. The SU board will hold ses sion November 2, at 4 p.m. Pix Garb Wanted; Schedule Listed Any woman student who has a navy blazer with white trim which she would be willing to loan for Oregana pictures is asked to contact the photogra phers in the basement of the SU.
