fessor of Slavic languages. The
Sunday evening service begins

Skiers to Enter
Inter-Collegiate
Competition
The University ski club is
making plans to enter inter
collegiate competition following
last Thursday night's approval
| by the ASUO senate of club
plans to race under the Univer
sity's name.
This will mark the first time
in seven years that the Univer
- sity has entered intercollegiate
ski competition. Previously the
ski team had been sponsored by
the athletic department, huULeo
Harris, director of athletics, said
the department this year could
not afford to back a team.
Although Harris gave no indi
cation that a ski team will be
considered by the athletic de
partment in the future, Jim
Laughton, ski club president, ex
pressed the hope that the ski
team will prove itself this year
and become a regular athletic
department function.
The Ski club was reorganized
this year and has at this time ap
proximately 25 members. Laugh
ton said that he plans to race
in the all-Oregon meet later in
the season.
All students interested in ski
ing are invited to attend chib
meetings. Plans call for a free
skiing lesson some Sunday this
term for new members.
