Oath Is Taken By Neuberger WASHINCTON-(AP)-Rlchard L. Neubergor was sworn In Wed nesday as U.S. senator, the first Democrat Oregon has elected to that position In 40 years. Neuberger, 42, who upset vet eran Kepubllean Sen. Guy Cor don In last November's election, < took the oath of office shortly after the 84th Congress convened at noon. Meanwhile, another Oregon Democrat, Mrs. Kdtth Green, waS Morse Takes Seat WASHINGTON - (API - Sen. M'lrw (Ind-Ore) took his place on the Democratic side of the Senate aisle Wednesday. Both she and Neuberger are from Portland. Neuberger was escorted by Sen. Morse (Ind-Ore) to the well of the Senate for the ceremony. Neuberger, whose election gave the Democrats control of the Senate, was given a desk at the extreme right of the rostrum. Before the ceremony Neuberg er told friends at his new sena torial offices a story about a re mark by former Vice President Alben Barkley at Tuesday's Dem ocratic caucus. Tri-Delt Phone Number Error Is Corrected An error was made in the listing of the telephone number of the Delta Delta Delta house in a recent issue of the Emerald. The number listed was 4-0513 while the correct number of the Tri-Delt house is 4-9514. The conference, which is open to all Interested students of west ern colleges, is presented by the Institute of International Rela tions. The cost will be $6.50 per delegate plus travel expenses and housing. The topic of this year's confer cnee will be "America Faces World Communism.” Harold K. Stassen, director of the Foreign Operations Administration, will • give the keynote address. Stas sen will speak on "President Eisenhower's Policy." The conference will offer sev eral other speakers from gov ernment agencies and from edu cational and research institu tions. Delegates to the confer ence will attend debates and seminars on different aspects of American foreign policy.
