What They
Are Saying
Gov. Thomas Dewey of New
York says that Truman doesn’t
dare let a clean, fro: h administra
tion Ret into Washington, ‘'be
cause treason is too great."
Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt says
Stevenson is, in her words, "better
fitted" than Eisenhower to be
president.
Republican vice- presidential
nominee Richard Nixon says that
Stevenson’s Illinois record exposes
him as' what Nixon calls a weak
ling, a waster and a small caliber
Truman.
Vice President Barkley has urg
ed Floridans to endorse what he
calls "the outstanding two decades
of progress" by voting democratic.
Gov. Earl Warren of California
has told a New Jersey audience
that ten out of eleven western
states have gone to republican ad
ministrations and no one has been
let down.
The governor also said in the
same speech that the same Demo
crats who wanted Eisenhower to
head their 1948 ticket now belittle
him as "a man on horseback."
