SU Board Petition Deadline Today at 5 Petition*) for membership on the 1052-53 Student Union board are due today at 5 p.m. Petitions can be obtained and turned in at the program director's office on the third floor of the SU. Joint committee interviews will be held April 28 to May 1, for the six positions. Final appointments will be made by University Presi dent H. K. Newburn. No student with an office in the ASUO senate or cabinet may be a member of the SU board. However, this does not disqualify those who hold office this year but will not next year. Six positions are open. One mem ber each from the schools of edu cation, journalism and business and the college of liberal arts will be chosen to serve two years. Qual ifications for these spots arc jun ior standing with a minimum of three terms at Oregon. One member from the law and graduate schools will be chosen for one year terms. Candidates will be selected for previous service to the Student Union and for scholastic standing. General ability as evidenced by participation in other fields of campus activities will also be con sidered. Meeting to Show YMCA Purpose Tho first general membership meeting of the YMCA for spring term will be held tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the Student Union, Wau Chun, YM president, has announc ed. The purpose of the meeting will be to acquaint members with the purpose of the YM and to inform them of projects the YM is carry ing out. and plans to carry out in the near future, Chun said. The principal speaker of the meeting will be Paul Keyser, area YMCA executive for student work, who will speak on the growth of the YMCA throughout the nation. He will also comment on the local program and make suggestions for its improvement. The new YMCA officers and committee chairmen will also be introduced at this time, Chun stated. A brief social hour will follow the meeting. Fellowship Awarded To Graduate Student A graduate student in biology, Margery Pearl Gray, has been awarded a fellowship by the Na tional Science Foundation. She ' will do her work in anthropology und<r the direction of W. S. Laughlin, assistant professor of anthropology.
