"Mu Phi Epsilon Concert Scheduled for Sunday In Library Browsing Room The first Music Hour in a series to be sponsored during winter term by patronesses and alumnae of Mu Phi Epsilon, national music honor ary, and by the University Library, will be given at 4 p.m., Sunday in the Library’s Browsing Room. Both recorded and instrumental music will be featured during the concerts to be presented every Sun day afternoon. Students, faculty, library staff members, and townspeople who take part in these programs, first given during the war years, make use of records from their own col lections and from the Douglas Mu sic Room in the University Library. The record player which is used was a gift to the Library by Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, expressly for use in the Browsing Room con certs. An all-request program will be played later on in the term, and re quests may be placed in the box which will be in the Browsing Tioom for the suggestions of pa trons. Any one wno would care to give a concert from a personal record li brary may leave his name and ad dress with Miss Bernice Rise, head of the circulation department. The program to be given this Sunday will include: “The Curfew” by Peter Warlock, Sonata in G mi nor for violin and figured bass and the Golden Sonata, both by Purcell. Records are from the library of Le ona E. Tyler, associate professor of psychology. Eugene F. Zarones, senior in psy chology and a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, men’s national mu sic honorary, will present Sunday’s concert. Hostesses for the afternoon will be: Mrs. Howard Boyd', president of Mu Phi Patronesses; Mrs. Frank Asay, president of Mu Phi Alum nae ; Miss Faye Schick, president of the active chapter of Mu Phi on the campus; Miss Marjorie Carl son, member of the active chapter; Misses Shirley Henson, Ann Judson House, and Shirley McFarland, Re bec, of the House Librarians; and Miss Rise and Miss Maxine Smith of the Library staff. Host will be Carl A. Gutmann, president of Phi Mu Alpha. U. O. Professor To Talk in South Rene L. Picard, professor of ro mance languages, left Eugene Wednesday evening for San Fran cisco, where he will make several speeches Friday. At noon he will speak to the Cercle de 1’Union, a club of San Francisco businessmen who are natives of France. In the Native Sons Building on Mason Street, Picard will address the Salon Francais, a women’s club, and, in the evening, the Al liance Francaise. Both of these associations are trying to promote more interest in French culture and the French language. Similar organizations are found in Port land and Los Angeles. The titles of Picard’s lectures will be “Fontainebleau,” in which he will tell of life in the palace there at the time of the French monarchy, and “L’Esprit Critique Francais.” He will leave San Francisco Saturday evening to return to Eu gene. WAA Meeting Tonight Members of the Women’s Ath letic Association will hold a meet ing tonight at 6:45 in the WAA Room in Gerlinger Hall. Robbins to Speak To Science Club E. C. Robbins, instructor in eco nomics, will be the speaker at the regular meeting of the Faculty Social Science Club Monday eve ning. His subject will be “John Maynard Keynes.’’ Meetings of the group are held twice each term, with programs on thinkers in particular fields whose influence was so profound that they affected all other fields of social science, according to Gor don Wright, professor of history and president of the organization. A dinner will be held at 6:15 at the Faculty Club, followed by the program at 7:30. The next meeting will be held on Feb. 20, with J. M. Foskett, pro fessor of sociology, speaking on Lester F. Ward and the social sci ences. PE_lnstructorsWSff To Attend Confabjj Dr. Margaret S. Poley, profes sor of physical education, and Miss Jeannette Masilionis, instructor in physical education, will leave Eu gene today for Berkeley, Cal., to attend a conference of the Western Society of Physical Education for College Women. The conference, to be held Jan. 20 through 22, will consist of dis cussions on general university and college recreation problems, physi cal education major requirements, and teaching' methods in physical education service classes. Warren to Speak John Warren, head basketball coach, will be the main speaker at a Friday meeting of the Oregon Athletic Round Table of Seattle. Also taking part in the speaking program is Les Anderson, alumni director. The meeting, composed of Ore gon alumni interested in athletics, will be held in the Washington Athletic Club. Attention Republicans! The campus Young Republicans and the “Webfoots for Wayne,” newly organized Morse-supporter group, will hold a joint meeting today at 4 p.m. upstairs in the Side to discuss the Senator’s visit to Eugene next Tuesday. Snow Holts Move To Student Union Transfer of any offices into the Student Union will not take place as long as the adverse weather continues, Dick Wil liams, Student Union Director, reported yesterday. Williams and his staff and Miss Ruth Coffey, food service supervisor for the student union, were scheduled to move into the building last week, but tele phone service men have been too busy repairing line breaks to install telephones. “We can’t foresee the exact date of the move,” Williams said, “as it all depends upon the weath er. As soon as it clears up we will begin making plans again for the move.” Petitions Due Friday For Court Position Petitions to fill a sophomore opening in the University traffic court are due at 5 p.m. Friday in the ASUO office, President Art Johnson, states. Any sophomore man or woman student may petition for the posi tion, left vacant by the resignation of Merv Hampton this term. The Executive Council will pick the new court member at its next meeting.
