Onthank Back From Student Placement Trip Dean K. W. Onthank of the stu dent placement service has just re turned from a trip which included Portland, Salem, and Longview, [Washington, where he made con tacts for the personnel office and attended various meetings. In Longview he attended the meetings of the Northwest Student Work council of the YMCA, of which he is chairman, and of the Northwest Area council board. Dean Onthank visited the ses sions of the Catholic labor rela tions conference at Portland. There he made contacts with vari ous possible employers of UO stu dents. A guest of the University Moth ers and Dads at Salem, Dean Op thank found the group one of the most active and progressive in the state. “I found quite a few jobs avail able in December, April and June for graduatees,” he said. Religious Events Listed for Today Events scheduled today in con nection with Religious Evaluation week are: 7:15-7:45 a.m. — Rev. Dudley Strain will lead the morning wor ship in Gerlinger hall. 12:00 m. — Rev. John R. Schroe der will discuss “Christianity and Her Rival Cults in America” dur ing lunch at John Straub dining room. 8:00 p.m. — Father L. H. Sohler will represent the Catholic faith on the topic, “The Answer of the Churches,” in Gerlinger hall. 4:00 p.m.—Dr. Harlan Rogue will sp*ak on “When Is Conduct Religious?” at Gerlinger. Dr. Carl F. Henry will talk on “Nature” and Rev. Schroeder’s topic will be “The Dilemma of a Good God and a Suffering World,” at Westminster house. Speakers will also appear in classrooms, as dinner guests at liv ing organizations, and at evening firesides. Construction of Polk Mountains The second study, appearing' in an Oregon bulletin, discusses de tails of the construction of the mountain region in Polk county in the area surrounding Dallas and Valsets. It is based on a map of the region. The State of Oregon de partment of geology and mineral industries also sponsored Dr. Bald win in this study. Title of the pamphlet is “Geology of the Dallas and Valsetz Quadrangles, Oregon". Both studies are part of a project by the Oregon State department to survey and catalog the entire coast range. The United States Geological Survey also has a map ping program for the coastal range region, according to Dr. Baldwin. Worst disadvantage of world leadership is that it deprives a country of the priceless privilege of minding its own business. A trophy will be awarded to the most efficient group. Oregon frosh will be responsible to observe the traditions of the weekend.
