Speech to Close Religious Week Religious evaluation week closes this evening in the music school auditorium with. Dr. George Hed ley speaking on “Religion Is Not For Sale at the Co-op.” This will be Dr. Hedley’s last appearance during the religious week. The evening program will start at 7:30 p. m. Forums at noon and 3 p. m. as well as skeptics hour at 4 p. m, will continue today. At the noon forum Dr. Robert li. Dann’s topic will be “Religion and the World Today” Fathei Campbell -Will speak on “Roman Catholicism in America.” Seven living organizations will be host to guest speakers this evening. They are Alpha Chi Ome ga, Westminister house, Delta Delta Delta Delta Tau Delta, Pi Beta Phi, Delta Upsilon and Sigma Phi Epsilon. Slides to Illustrate Photo Making “Making Pictures People Like”, will be the topic of the slides shown Tuesday, in Room 3, Fenton hall, . at 4 p. m. Carl Webb will speak on the slides, which -are part of the East • man Kodak Company’s slide series. YWCA Cancels Meeting The meeting scheduled for today by the YWCA Sophomore Com mission has been cancelled. It will be held at the regular time next week. Arrangements have been made to have a speaker on ad vertising at that time. Sigurd Nilssen, UO Professor Plans January Concert Tour Sigurd Nilssen, famous opera and concert star and professor of voice at the University until last year, Will begin a concert tour in January. Nilssen joined the music school staff in 1940, after leaving his professional career because of ill health. “I really came back to Oregon to die,” he said, “but got well instead.” He retired from the school of music in 1946. Protege Honored His protege, Marie Rogndahl, was chosen “Undiscovered Voice of America” by the Hour of Charm program while she was studying music here in 1944. She is now singing with the Metropolitan opera company. Nilssen’s concert itinerary will begin with an appearance in Sa lem, follewed by performances in Seattle, Bellingham, Vancouver ind Victoria, B.C., San Francisco, Sacramento, Santa Barbara, Los ngeles and San Diego. In August he wil appear in a Mexican opera. - Foreign Debut • Following his debut at Monte Carlo, Nilssen gave 20 command performances before European royalty, including the king of Eng land at St. James palace, London, and the duke of Monaco. He is a graduate of the Whitman conservatory of music in Walla Wala, Wash., and continued his studies in New York and Eur ope. At present he gives private vocal lessons in Eugene and Port land. Sang Arias Nilssen was feature don “Fire side Recital,” American radiator company radio program, and in 1936-37 he held leading roles with Hippodrome opera company in New York.
