b. Booking of big-name bands will be approved only if the
cost can be financed under a sound dance budget.
B. Minor
k 1- Minor all-campus dances of a rally nature may be held on
occasions when desirable, under the following conditions:
a. Normally, the dance must be held on Saturday night.
► b. Normally, the dance must be held in Gerlinger hall.
c. The administration of these dances lies with the Educa
tional Activities Manager.
VI. Rallies, Serenades, Parades:
A. The administration of rallies and parades is the responsibility of
, the Dean of Men. Such events:
1. Must be scheduled 24 hours in advance.
2. Must not. conflict with class hours or normal study hours.
1 3. Must not be held on Sundays.
B. Organized serenades are allowed on Friday and Saturday nights.
Such serenades:
1. Must terminate within one hour after normal closing hours.
2. Must be cleared with the Dean of Men 24 hours in advance.
VII. Off-Campus Dances:
A. No University-sponsored, dances outside of the Eugene area will
be allowed.
B. All dances sponsored by living organizations in the Eugene area
must be held in the organizations’ living quarters or in a Univer
sity-controlled building.
VIII. Chaperonage
A. The Dean of Women will determine the number of chaperones
that will be adequate for social affairs.
B. A chaperonage fee of $5.00 must be paid to the University of
Oregon cashier for each social function, unless the fee is waived
by the Dean of Women.

A. It is the duty of the Rally Committee to promote Oregon spirit,
foster good sportsmanship, and arrange for all rallies, both on
and off the campus, and to assist the yell leader if called upon to
do sc in performing card stunts and other forms of entertain
ment prepared for athletic events.
X. Charters: The following procedure shall govern the application for
charters:
A. Local: Individuals wishing to start a local organization must
submit, for approval by the Student Affairs Committee, its con- I
stitution and by-laws and the signatures of interested persons.!
B. National: Local organizations wishing to affiliate with a national:
organization must present, for approval by the Student Affairs
Committee, the name of the national, the local membership'
roll, national dues, financial setup of the national, etc.
XI. Recognition of Organizations:
A. Organizations must be officially recognized if they
1. Purport to represent the University in any way.
2. Bear the name of the University.
3. Influence the well-being of the University by their public;
contacts.
B. Any organization may be requested to submit the following: |
1. A statement of its aims and functions.
2. Its constitution and by-laws.
3. Its membership roll and sponsors.
4. Time and place of meeting.
5. Its financial support and a condition of its finances.

Competitive examinations for
the naval ROTC college program
will be given on December 13 at
Oregon State college, Lt. J. E.
Keys, United States navy, an
nounced yesterday.
Any male college student be
tween the ages of 17 and 21, re
gardless of his year in school, may
apply for the examination. Appli
cants may be either veterans or
non-veterans. Applications must
be received by the Naval Examin
ing Board, Box 709, Princeton,
New Jersey, not later than Novem
ber 10. The blanks may be picked
up at the registrar’s office or a’t
the offices of the deans of the vari
ous schools.
If an applicant is accepted, he
must agree to remain in school for
four years after his acceptance
when he will be graduated as a
commissioned officer in the regu
lar navy.
Enrollees will receive $600 a year
in addition to their tuition and
books and will have a complete
choice of major. The only required
courses are naval science, one year
of mathematics and one year of
physics.
Each man will be given the same
courses and training that he would
receive at Annapolis, but he will
have civilian status during his four
years of college work.
Oregon State college is the only
educational institution in the state
of Oregon which will offer this ed
ucational program.
