IFC Delegates Iron Problems In Seattle Meet University fraternities were rep resented at the Western Regional Inter-Fraternity Counfcil confer ence at the University of Wash ington in Seattle last week by By ron Mayo, president of the Oregon Inter-Fraternity council, and Rich ard Savinar, secretary-treasurer of the council. Twenty-five Western universi ties and colleges were represented at the meet held October 31, and November 1 and 2. In all-day ses sions, the representatives split into small groups in which various problems confronting inter-fra ternity councils and individual houses were discussed. Hazing Substitution No longer considering “hell week” a problem, the fraternity men expressed favor toward the plan used on the University of Oregon campus where an informal working period has been sub stituted. In the relations of fraternity men with non-fraternity men it was agreed that there are no gap ing differences between the two. Both follow the same principles and aims of the institution they are attending. Many Problems Discussed It was urged by the conference that 'each council attempt to fur ther in any way possible, the friendly relationship that should exist between all college men. Also discussed at the conference were matters pertaining to rush ing, public relations, and pledge training. Dr. G. Herbert Smith, president of Willamette university and national president of Beta Theta Pi, spoke at a banquet Fri day night. George Hall, assistant dean of men, attended the conference in place of Virgil D. Earl, dean of men. Art Director Here Karl S.
