Social Calendar For Spring; Term Released by Dean The deadline for all social events being put on the social calendar closed yesterday at the dean of women’s office, with ■ many events scheduled for spring term. Houses and organiza- f tions wishing to schedule additional events must now present a petition to the student affairs committee. Outing Club Slates Friday Fireside A fireside will be held Friday | evening at 7:30 in the AWS room in Gerlinger for members of the Outing club and all others that are interested, announced Dorothy Dixon, newly-elected president of the club. Other officers elected at the last meeting are Hermie Kroeger, sec retary-treasurer, and Naja Rumpt, program chairman. The club hiked to the top of Spencer’s butte Sun day accompanied by’ their adviser, Miss Helen Petroskey. Oregon Marine Gets Star for Gallantry Lt. Com. Warren E. Page, grad uate of the University in 1924 and of the University medical school in 1927, received a silver star for gal lantry in action while serving with the marines on Bougainville. Adm. William F. Halsey presented the award. Page is a member of Theta Kap pa Psi. The admiral’s citation credits Page with being instrumental in saving at least four lives. He left a protected position to give med ical aid to eight wounded com lades when he was slightly wound ed himself last November 3, the citation says. Cram uram, university student in '41-'42 and a member of the class of '45, who lived in Can ard club. He has been in the south and central Paci fic war theaters as a pharmacist's mate first class attached to an operating team performing field snre-prv for a ma ine corps combat unit. In the Guadalcanal and Tara wa campaigns he helped to care or the wounded. His first over eas service was in Samoa. Cram is now home on leave visit ig his parents in Portland.
