Seven New Members - Picked by Pot and Quill Seven girls will know for the first time, as they read this story, that they have been elected to membership in Pot and Qiuu, creative writing honorary. Elections were made as a result of the recent membership contest sponsored by the group. New members are: Jane Gray Ward, Muriel Stevens, Audrey Lynds, Emily Tyree, Mary Louise Vincent, Mary Lois Dana, and Norma Trevorrow. Winner of the $5 prize, offered in the contest, will be announced at the initiation meeting to be held1 January 6. Mrs. Eric W. Al len will be hostess to the group. All students who submitted manuscripts to Pot and Quill during the contest, may secure their entries from Aileen Guy, secretary of the journalism * school, any time after next Mon day. Manuscripts should be asked for by title. The freshmen can’t be lieve it, the sophomores dread it, the juniors are used to it and those trying to graduate this year can’t get along without it. Everyone had dessert at home this week and all entertaining is crossed off the calendar in all living organizations. Ten-thirty permission for women Friday night climaxes the first closed weekend. Shows, bridge, skating and such just about sum up the date bait for the weekend. Centre college, Danville, Ky., is opening a $250,000 endowment campaign. The hardest article to sell was a book on the development of the speech of a young child ... it was finally “given away” for one cent ... to some fellow. Books Sold Easiest to sell were the accu mulation of 41 test books and notebooks . . . Beverly Padgham came away with books for all of her subjects next term . . . And Marge Dibble perched up front and encouraged the bidding of people around her. The auctioneers did a glorious job . . . thanks to both ... in fact, they were so enthusiastic that they found themselves bid ding for articles . . . and the re ceipts were so high that several scholarships will be given away to deserving students over the holidays . . . tuition will be sent special delivery . . . arriving on Christmas morn. Nickel Hop Elizabeth "Steedie” Steed has announced that work will begin on the annual AWS sponsored Nickel Hop ... to be held the first of next term . . . names of the freshman and sophomore girls chosen to be co-chairmen will be announced within the next few days. Marge Curtis complains that she just got her shoes in shape from the Bunion Derby . . . Billie Christensen suggests no shoes. Congrats to Wini Green ’cause her Hendricks hall won the intra mural volleyball championship. . . . Rohda Harkson for arranging for the Kwamas to meet the alums at the train depot and help direct them to cars during Homecoming . . . Betty Morfitt for helping the Order of the O with table decorations for their traditional banquet. Oh yes, it’s a women’s world. Dr. B. O. Williams, new head of the department of sociology at the University of Georgia, has a collection of 60-odd pipes.
