Students Feted During Holidays; Engagements Prominent on Calendar Students Feted During Holidays University students were feted at numerous social activities held in Portland during the holidays. Friday evening the ballroom of the Multnomah hotel was the scene of an all-campus dance. Members of Kappa Sigma entertained Friday evening at an informal spring dance in the rose room of the Ma sonic temple. Alpha Gamma Del ta were hostesses Tuesday evening at a dance held in the Arabian room of the Multnomah hotel. * * * Graduates Wed At Independence At a ceremony held March 16 in the Presbyterian church in In dependence, Miss Faith Jean Kim ball, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Z. C. Kimball, became the bride of John Edwin Black, son of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Black of McMinnville, the Rev. Henry G. Hansen officiat ing. Attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Edward Best of Eu reka, Cal. Mr. and Mrs. Black are gradu ates of the University of Oregon, where Mr. Black was an affiliate of Phi Sigma Kappa. * # « Former Student Wins Honor Word has been received from Claremont, Calif., that Ann Chap man, former Oregon student, and a prominent member of the junior class at Scripps college has been appointed general chairman for the annual scholarship dance given on March 30. Miss Chapman is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Chapman of Portland. * • • Nuptials Held In Corvallis Students at Oregon State col lege and the University of Oregon are interested in the wedding held Sunday in Corvallis of Miss Vel ma Hamilton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Hamilton, to Harry C. Visse, son of Mr. and Mrs. K. L. Visse, of Pomona, Calif., at the Federated churches, Dr. John S. Burns officiating. Both young people are gradu ates of the University of Oregon. The former is an Alpha Delta Pi and the latter a Phi Sigma Kappa. A reception followed the cere mony at the bride’s home on North Fifth street. Following a short wedding trip the couple will make their home in Portland. Marriage Held Monday at St. Mark’s The wedding of Margaret Eliza beth McGee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis R. McGee, to Kenneth Richard Curry, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce C. Curry, took place in the chapel of St. Mark’s Episcopal church last Monday morning in the presence of members of the two families. Rev. R. A’Court Sim monds officiated. The bride, who was unattended, was given in marriage by her fath er. She was lovely in an after noon dress of rose-beige crepe made with large sleeves and a girdle of wooden beads. Her hat was of shiny brown straw, turned back from her face, and her other accessories were also brown. She wore a spray of white gardenias. Bruce C. Curry acted as best man for his brother. Following the ceremony a wed ding breakfast was held at the home of the bride’s parents, after which the young couple left for a wedding trip in the north. Mrs. Curry attended the Univer sity of Oregon, where she was af filiated with Gamma Phi Beta. Owen at the home of the bride-to-be. Mr. McVay is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William H. McVay of Forest Hills, Calif. A former student of the Univer sity, Miss Owen is an affiliate of Kappa Kappa Gamma. * * * Betrothal Announced Miss Claire Fahe announced her engagement to Robert L. Good rich at a breakfast given for 12 of her friends at the Campbell Court hotel Saturday. The bride-elect is the daughter of Mr. Rudolf Fahe, and Mr. Goodrich is the son of Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Goodrich of Long view. The wedding date has not been set but will be an event of early summer. * • • San Francisco Scene Of Wedding Miss Elizabeth Blew, daughter of Mrs. E. A. Blew of Portland, and Phil T. Liddy were married last Sunday In San Francisco. Mrs. P. T. Slauson (Alberta Rives) was the bride’s only attendant. G. Ste vens, formerly of Portland, acted as best man. Mrs. Blew accompan ied her daughter south for the ceremony. The bride formerly attended the University of Oregon, where she was a member of Delta Delta Del ta. Mr. and Mrs. Liddy will be at home at the Graystone apart ments in San Francisco. Mr. Hayward is completing his thirty-second year on the Oregon coaching staff. Among other guests will be Dr. C. V. Boyer, president of the Uni versity; Prince Callison, football coach, and William Reinhart, bas ketball and baseball coach, who has accepted a position with George Washington university, starting September 1.
