R.O.T.G. TO COMPLETE PARADE DRILLS TODAY Twenty Seniors to Receive With Commander Today’s battalion parade of the University B. O. T. C. unit will complete the series of six weekly drill ceremonies, which have been put on by the military department in connection with the regular course of instruction during the last term. The parade will be held at 5:15 on the B. O. T. C. drill field. Twenty senior students, who have completed the second year of ad vanced work in the department, and who will receive their commis sions as second lieutenants in the reserve corps upon graduation, will receive the parade with the regular battalion commander. Being in the nature of a resume of the military activities for the year, these parades afford a com prehensive view of the work which is being done by the local B. O. T. C. department. Great interest has been shown in the drills by the ca dets, and have also attracted [much attention on the part, of University students and faculty, as well as 'townspeople. “Today is also the last day on which students having delinquen cies, either from unexcused ab sences or tardiness, will be per mitted to make them up,” said Captain F. Musical Earwigs Require Melodies To Aid Daily. Naps ! •4'° ’ * ’ ifR<: Do earwigs have an ear for music? Why should this notori ous pest make its debut on the Oregon campus near the music building? Is it because the mel odies emanating from that place furnish the necessary aid to their daily nap? The earwig is a night worker, and eats everything from grass to Irving Berlin’s latest. This insect has caused a great deal of destruction in the Willamette valley, recently, and means are to be taken at once to get rid of the pest. The surest way to exterminate the bothersome creatures is to feed them great quantities of poi son medl, since they’ll eat every thing. During the daytime, they hide away under leaves and sticks, but as soon as it is dark, they come out to eat all they can find. H. M. Fisher, super intendent of grounds, says that efforts will be made to get rid of them as soon as possible. APPRECIATION With the close of the school year, we wish to take this occasion to thank the students and faculty of the University for their patronage during the past year. We shall look for ward to your return next fall.
