FRESHMEN BEGIN HARD TRAINING Two Games This Week for Babes Scheduled INJURIES WRECK SQUAD Yearlings Will Count on Fight lor Scores Thiijgs are beginning to hum out on the gridiron where the freshman football squad practice and if last night was a forerunner, things will be going at top speed all week. Scarcely a week is left before the frosh eleven goes up against one of the strongest teams it will en counter tins *vear and that is Colum bia university, which the frosh play on Hayward field next Friday. The strength of Columbia is unknown but the teams that have come from there in the past have been good ones. This one will be a tussle for the frosh—the first of the season with the handicap of several first class men on the sick list. The prospect doesn’t show up as bright as the Aurora Borealis by a long shot. It looks like it might be a frost of the first water. Four Games on List Bight after the Frosh-Columbia game the Frosh go to Marshfield to play Marshfield high school. This leaves only the two big games of the season to be played. One with the Washington frosh on No vember 15, at Seattle and one with the Books on November 8, on Hay ward field. So Baz Williams is sending his yearlings into two stiff games with hardly any offense—that has not been developed due to the short amount of time the Frosh have been out and due to the injuries sus tained by some of the most promis ing men out. They will have to ■depend on their defense and try to hold down the score as small as pos sible. But the Frosh are going in to the games with a quality that ■ought to make up in part for othqrj things and that is fight. That’s the thing that they are depending on in these two games. One of the injuries that cut a hole in the Frosh team was the dis location of Edward’s shoulder last week when the Ftosh scrimmaged the Varsity. Edwards was one of the strong men on the Frosh back field. He cannot be' replaced very easily. ^ Squad Not to be Cut ~ Out of the 80 or 90 frosh turn ing out at the first of the year, the squad now numbers around 45— some having dropped out, others put out “on account of sickness and injuries. The Frosh squad will not be cut as in previous years but 121 7th Ave. West MARSHALL’S They Say We are out of the way but this is to your ad vantage. Why? A few years ago tha hair was a nuisance to almost everyone, for it was usually the least attractive part of the appearance — always unkempt and unsightly an hour after being combed. There was no way, then, to keep it from being so. Old-fashioned pomades only matted it and made it greasy. Water evaporated quickly and left it drier and more unruly than ever. Today everyone can have smooth, neatly combed hair Now Stacomb — a delicate, invis ible cream for keeping the hair in place — has changed all that. It is responsible for the amazingly improved appearance of men’s hair. And it has made possible for every woman, however “difficult” her hair, the new smooth effect so much in vogue. In clubs and fraternities, at the : theatre or the game, today you can seldom find even one case of un kempt hair. People who know that the hair can ruin the whole appearance— people who are careful about the way they look — have given Sta comb an important place on their chiffonier or dressing table. No matter how dry and straggly' your hair may be — no matter how uncontrollable after being washed — Stacomb will keep it always in place, smooth, lustrous, natural. A touch of it in the morning when you comb your hair — and all day long your hair will be just as you want it, for Stacomb will keep it smoothly in place until you go to bed at night. 1 * You can get Stacomb in conven ient jars and tubes, at all drug and department stores. Non-staining and non-greasy. Use it tomorrow morning — and look your beat all day! n Standard Laboratories,Inc., Dept. 113 W. 18th St., New York City Please lend me, free oi charfr, a generous sample tube of Stacomb.
