Miss Camille A. Leach, who has re signed her position as reference lib rarian, to take effect October 15, af ter fifteen years of continuous ser vice, was honored by the University faculty Thursday afternoon, when they passed a resolution signifying their reluctance in her departure from the library force. The resolution, in part, says: "The library, for these many years, has been like a home—Miss Leach, its kindly hostess. The books have been the students’ friends, largely through the introduction given them by the patient mistress of the house.” "The faculty takes this formal manner of expressing its unstinted appreciation of Miss Leach’s devoted, sympathetic services, and its cordial regret, that she is finding it essential, in her own desire, to leave a position j which has seemed peculiarly and es pecially her own.” Miss Leach, during her long period of service in the library, has been, perhaps, the best known person in the University. She has known person ally nearly every Oregon student, and has hundreds of friends throughout the state. When Miss Leach first took up her work in the University library, it occupiedd one small room in the president’s house, and she has fol lowed its development from that time to its present position in Johnson I hall. FINE CUTLERY A SPECIALTY White Temple VIVID POSTERS SCORE VIOLEN T ADJ ECTIV ES COM BIN ED WITH KE1) INK Sophomore Moses, Identity Unknown, Contributes Decalogue for Fresh man Guedance. Appearing opportunely on the eve of the annual Freshman acquaint ance party the annual proclamations j against the Freshmen appeared | prominently about town, Friday at dawn. By a liberal use of red ink and vivid adjectives, the authors of the document conveyed to the public their opinion of the 1916 aggrega tion. The posters are perhaps the most flaring ever seen at the Univer sity. They are larger than a news paper page, and the type used is of the corpulent variety. Every avail able telephone pole, tree and fence in the vicinity of the campus was utilized in the display, but the dis tributors refrained from extending their activities to the campus. The Freshmen are addressed as “belligerent, brainless, i boneheadled boobs,” “egotistical, effiminate, emp ty-headed evil-doers,” “wayward, witless, weak-minded wretches,” “atrocious, abominable, awkward asses,” “repulsive, rookish, rustic roughnecks,” and “eel-like, emaciat ed, elongated exiles,” the first letters of these lines spelling the word “be ware.” Following this salutation, a brief summary of the misdemeanors of the first year men is given, and the “Ten Commandments for Freshmen” are enumerated. The responsibility for the procla mations is placed at the doors of various local literary celebrities, but, whatever class or classes were behind the undertaking, it is expected by the Sophomores, that the placards will have a wholesome effect in “keeping down” the 1916 bunch. ABE BLACKMAN PICKED FOR YELL LEADER The executive council of the Uni versity met this afternoon in Profes sor Straub’s room in Villard hall and passed resolutions recommending the requisition system to the graduate manager and the treasurer of the stu dent body, for use in student body finances. Albert Tiffany was elected treas urer, and Abe Blackman was appoint ed yell leader for the 1912 year. The first and second Saturday of each month were chosen as the coun cils’ regular meeting time.
