SENIOR WORKS THESIS OF PRACTICAL VALUE Roy Fitch, a senior in the Chem istry Department, has been working from thirty to forty hours a week since last December gathering data for his thesis on “A Method for the Qualitative and Quantitative Deter mination of Hypochlorites in Dilute Aqueous Solutions.” Hypochlorites are mineral salts used in purification of drinking water, and all of the ex periments and tests regarding them have been made on the Eugene city water. The purpose of Fitch’s long exper imental work has been to establish the fact that none of this hypochlo rite added to the water produced free chlorine, which is an offensive element in water. He is also trying to dis cover and perfect a method of deter mining the amount of hypochlorite escaping into the water. The results will be announced later. MARCH MONTHLY IS DEVOTED TO INTERESTS OF “PREPPERS” The March issue of the Monthly will be, for the most part, a High School number. It will be sent to the differ ent high schools of the state, as it will contain descriptions and cuts of the campus, as well as the courses of study. Aside from this department, there will be the usual number of poems and stories, among them a poem by Professor Howe, dealing with a love story, which is, according to one who knows, full of “pip.” Evans Houston has written a sketch and “Punch” Dunlap contributes an essay on Lincoln. Another famous X. Y. Z. story will also appear, but for the last time. It is reported to be less personal than the first one. whatever your Demands You Can Be Pleased in Burdin & Graham’s FOOTWEAR.
