The Bonville’s Maga zine is published in Portland. It was founded a comparatively short time ago, but is growing with phenominal rapidi ty and is already recognized, by those competent to judge, as one of the fore most literary publication on the Pacific Coast. The editor, Mrs. Virginia Bean, is a graduate from Oregon and for a num ber of years after finishing her course here, held a position as an assistant in structor under Professor H. C. Howe, head of the Department of English Lit ature. Professor Howe is also inter ested in the Bonville Magazine, in the capacity of a contributor. Scarcely an issue appears which does not contain some interesting article from his pen, and he has become one of the most widely known and popular of its con tributors. Ralph Bacon, the manager of the magazine is also a writer of some excellent prose and verse which ap pears in its pages. Mr. Bacon is a graduate of Oregon, as is Miss Miriam Van Waters, who is also a frequent and popular contributor to the magazine. Threat of Boycott Effective As a result of the threatened boycott of freshmen not wearing the official cap, the number of green caps on the campus has been greatly increased The members of the committee who lead in the movement report that not a single case of disobedience of the custom has been brought to their notice, and that they believe the threat will prove effect ive as no fellow will care to bring upon himself the disfavor of the united upper classmen. Entries Due for Debate Wednesday, November 24th is the last day for entering names for the Ore gon-Utah debate tryouts. Manager Steele says: “We want the names of all the men who are going to try out; and we want only those who are going to try out.” The tryouts will be held on the Tuesday evenings and Friday after noons of the first two weeks following the Thanksgiving recess. Oregon Credits Good at Harvard Word has been received at the office that graduates of the University of Ore gon will in the future be admitted un conditionally to Harvard Law School. The list of schools whose graduates are admitted without conditions is limited, and Registrar Tiffany says it speaks well for Oregon that hers are included within the list. Mrs. Dodd and Frances Oberteuffer received the guests. Dur ing the evening' delicious punch and wa fers were served,, by lone Lambert, Pearl McKelvey and Barbara Eakin. Too much social activity is next to impossible at Washington. An under graduate desiring to attend any social function must convince the faculty that his scholarship is above the passing mark. A course in the Conservation of Re sources. is offered at the University of Michigan. The course involves six years of study, resulting in the degree of Master of Conservation Engineering. Before February 1st the scholarship of the fraternities of Kansas University must be equal to that of other students or stringent action will be taken against the Greek letter organizations.
