(LTD "It may be like getting in the ring with Sonny Liston," Auburn Coach Ralph Jordan said today while adding up the weight of the Nebraska linemen. "They will be the biggest team we've faced all year," the Tiger coach said. "The line av crages 230 pounds from end to end. And the backfield is bigger than ours." Auburn has a 2-2 bowl record, winning in the Orange in 1938 but losing two and winning one at the Ga tor Bowl. Worried About Conditioning The Auburn coach also is wor lied about the conditioning his players. "First it was the rains and now the cold. We've not been able to work ourselves into fine physical shape. I knowi it s been cold in Nebraska but they have a large field house to work out." None of Auburn's linemen average weight 203, and none of the backs, averaging 202.5, will be slowed by injuries when the sixth-ranked Tigers collide with the fifth-ranked Cornhusk en. Auburn will be operating from a spread formation that saw llie ligers hack up nine wins and an upset loss to in spired Mississippi State. The at tack is spearheaded by quarter back Jimmy Sidle, a junior who made the third string All-Amer ica team with his manipulation of the option play. The 6-2, 210-pound Sidle was back of I ho year in the South eastern Conference, lie set an Auburn rushing record with 1,000 yards, second in the na tion. This mark is tops in the NCAA for quarterbacks. He also pusscd for 70G yards -for a 1,712 offensive total just three yards short of the Auburn rcc ord. When Sidle is not carrying, he hands off to leftbaek Tucker Fredorickson who will celebrate "homecoming" in the Orange classic. Fredcriekson lives only 20 minutes from the stadium ati Hollywood, Kla. He was Au burn's No. 2 rusher this fall with 311 yards on 77 carries and he plays safetyman like he in vented It. He intercepted four passes this year and made ns many tackles as any lineman.
