Reedsport Seeks Site
For Garbage Dispose!
Still pending at Reedsport is
a decision on location of a new
garbage disposal site made nec
essary because of expiration of
a present lease on Dec. 31.
Clarence Hahn, garbage
franchise holder, until that date
will operato on a lease from
International Paper Co. which
has provided the site now in
use. The timber company at
an earlier meeting of the city
council served notice that it
was getting out of the garbage
business, according to Dawn
Peseau, correspondent.
At this week's meeting of the
city council, City Attorney Wil
liam Jaync told members that
Ihc Douglas County Court s sti
pulation that the City of'Reeds
port furnish a land fill site is
not hard and fast." He report
ed on informal talks with county
court members, held in lieu of
the formal discussions to re-ne

action will be needed in the
very near future, Jayne said,
on sites currently under inves
ligation, one privately owned,
one city owned and one county
owned.
