Smorgasbord Planned For Sunday At Riddle The Episcopal Church Women of Riddle will hold their annual smorgasbord Americana at the parish hall on Sunday, Dec. 8, from 1:30 until 5:00 p.m. This is an eagerly awaited event by many throughout the county who are already familiar with the delicious foods served in a Christmas atmosphere of friend ly warmth. Mrs. Siegel reports that Rose- burg's basketball coach, Curt Jarvis, will be on hand to give some interesting highlights on basketball and a preview into the forthcoming basketball sea son. Hum mel entertained at a charming social affair at their home Thanksgiving Day honoring the engagement of their lovely daughter, LaRcece Jane, to William E. ilaynes, son of Mr, and Mrs. Clyde Haynes of Roseburg. Prccceding the dinner, re freshments were served to the guests by John P. Pfliogcr, un cle of the bride elect. The 2 p.m. dinner was served by Mrs. Pflieger. A Thanksgiving pray er was recited by Clyde Kinyon of Melrose. From 5 to 0 p.m., refresh ments with Mrs. Victor ' Ding at the punch, bowl, were served to some 25 guests. A delicious cake, baked by Mrs. Armond Bcaudct of Roseburg, was pre sented to the couple. The bride- elect cut the cake and' Mrs. Haynes and Mrs.' Kinyon assist ed in serving it with coffee. A most delightful social eve ning and Oriental dinner was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Art McGuirc in Winston, Saturday evening. Hostesses for the lovely event were Mrs. Mc Guire and her daughter, Mrs. Helen Dyhre. The living room was attrac tively decorated in the Oriental theme. Japanese lanterns were suspended from rafters and over , the snack bar. The low tables were covered by white linen cloths with colorful em broidered flowers, and center ed by a lovely arrangement of pyracantha. The 8 p.m. candlelight dinner eaten in Oriental fashion was served by the hostesses, Mrs. McGuire and Mrs. Dyhre, to the following guests: Mr. and Mrs. Robert Grensky, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Daniels, Dr. and Mrs. A.
