Paul Fisher and John Aston of Salem were in Roseburg over the weekend visiting friends. Ralph Youngor of Medford was here over the weekend visiting friends. Dennis McCarter of Oswego spent the weekend here visiting friends. Cheri Vinson and David McGuire of Springfield were here visiting friends over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. William Bush of Salem were houseguests of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Geddes on SE Lane Ave. over the weekend. H. E. DeBernardi and his broth, er and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Albert DeBernardi, left today for lold ceacn to enjoy a few days fishing the Rogue River. Larrjr Inman left Sunday for Springfield to visit his paternal grandmother, Mrs. J. L. inman, and will bring home his sister, Kathe, tonight. Kathe has been in Springfield for the last month Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Micelli are back at their home here, following a trip to Portland to attend to busi ness. They returned home via the coast route and stopped over at Ocean Lake. Stella and Joe Morgan and Lee Compton, representing the Ameri can Legion and Auxiliary, Spring field, spent Sunday here assisting with the Voluntary Services depart ment at the VA Hospital. Mrs. Anna Nickson. and her daughter, Mrs. Helen Hahn, re turned to their home on NE Nash St. Sunday, following a business trip to Eugene and spending the weekend visiting friends. Leroy Inman returned to his work as business editor of the News-Review Monday, following a two weeks vacation. The family spent a part of their time vaca tioning at Diamond Lake. Mrs. In man returned to her work at Wool worths Monday, following her two weeks vacation. Vernon Nye, professor of art at Pacific Union College, Angwin, Calif, spent the last week in Rose burg conducting classes for the Roseburg Art Association of out door landscape water color paint ing. He is returning home via High way 101 and plans to paint sea scapes en route south. Mrs. J. E. Campbell, Mrs. Her man Bauer, Miss Helen Casey and Mrs. Kenneth Ford drove to Eu gene Friday to meet with Max Risingcr, assistant dean of music at University of Oregon, to make final plans for the music series of 10 lectures to be sponsored nere by the Roseburg Woman's Club. Mr. and Mrs. John Byron of Tulelake, Calif., formerly of Olal- la and Roseburg, became grand parents for the first time Thurs day, Aug. 22, when their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Haverly, of Redding, Calif, became parents of a daughter, Tra cy Lynn, who weighed in at 7 pounds 2 ounces. Great-grandmoin- er of the baoy is Mrs. A. A. ADra ham of Roseburg. Roland Shanklin, who has been with the United States State De partment in Santiago, Chile, South America, for tne last two years, was a recent visitor in Roseburg at the home of his father, Paul R. Shanklin, and Mrs. Shanklin, and also visited his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Roland Springer. He was met in San Francisco by his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. George Gmahling (Georgene Shanklin), and children. Ginger, Gerri, Gary and Gregory, of Bell vue, Wash., who accompanied him lo Roseburg and then after a few C days returned to their home in Washington, snanxnn visuea uie last few days in Bellvue at the Gmahling home and left yesterday by plane for Honolulu, where he will board a ship for his new as signment in Cambodia. Methodist Church Has Junior Camp Session The Rev. and Mrs. Everett Gard ner of the Dillard-Winston Metho dst Church had charge of the camping week for juniors at the Methodist Camp on Loon Lake near Scottsburg for the session which ended Saturday. About 34 boys and girls from Methodist churches in the area as well as Portland, Salem, Eugene and Corvallis were at the camp during this period. The Rev. Richard Case of the Sutherlin Methodist Church and Sharon Ostrander and Marian Rand from Roseburg served as camp counselors. The Methodist Church has owned this camp on Loon Lake for sever al years and uses it for winter weekend retreats as well as sum- Leslie (Hap) Clarke and Phil Mannan of Portland were in Rose burg visiting friends over the weekend. - Lewis D. Patterson of Hillsboro, Wis., spent the weekend here visit ing friends. Patterson is a student at University of Oregon. ' Mrs. Paul Geddes and daughter. Miss Carole, of this city, spent Sunday and Monday in Portland attending to business. Lance B. W. Hall, Lamar and Karin Efaw, Christine Anderson and Rick Mathre, of Astoria, spent the weekend -visiting in Roseburg. Mr. and Mrs. Joe McClary of Portland visited over Thursday in Roseburg with the former's aunt, Mrs. I. H. Duff, on NE Nash St. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Thompson of Eugene, formerly of Roseburg, spent the weekend here visiting friends. Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Rabe of Den ver, Colo, have arrived in Rose burg to visit the latter's parents, Rev. and Mrs. W. L. Blaker, and other relatives. The Rev. and Mrs. W. L. Blaker have moved from SE Kane St. to 1123 SE Cass Ave. to make their home. The Rev. Mr. Blaker is a former rector of St. George's Epis copal Church. Umpqua Area meeting for all square dancers will be held Wed nesday, Aug. 28 at 8 p.m. at tne Creek. New officers will be elect ed. New dance material will be workshopped after the meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ryan of Fort Ord, Calif, arrived in Roseburg Sunday and visited here until to day with the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Davis, on sE Azalea Drive. Mrs. Ryan is the former Glcnna Davis of this city. The public is invited to attend the benefit ice-cream social to be sponsored by the Social Order of Beauceant beginning at S p.m. We nesday, Aug. 28, 1144 W. Harvard. Homemade pie and cake will be served with the ice-cream. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Serafin of this city went to Seattle last week for the wedding of their son, Barry Duane, to Catherine Lynn Van Camp, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Austin Van Camp at As sumption Church, which took place Saturday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas McNeil of Portland stopped over in Roseburg Saturday to visit friends en route home from a trip to Ashland to enjoy the Shakespearian Festival. McNeil was formerly manager of the Inter-State Tractor Co. here before moving to Portland about 14 years ago. Mrs. Joe Specker of Fling, Mich, has arrived in Roseburg to spend a few weeks visiting at the home of her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Paul R. Shanklin. She plans to visit with her niece, Mrs. George Gmahling, and fam ily, in Bellvue, Wash, also before returning to Michigan. Mr. and Mrs. Guy C. Perrin have returned to their home in Hucrest, following a stay in Eugene and a trip to Charleston to enjoy deep sea fishing. They were accompan ied to the coast by their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Perrin, and daughter, of Eugene. Prior to going to Charles ton, the Perrins visited at Newport with Mrs. Perrin's father, C. A. Watson. Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Watson left Sunday for their home in Portland, following an 11-day stay in Rose burg visiting at the home of the latter s brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick J. Porter, on SE Reservoir Ave. The Watsons are former Roseburg residents. Waston is a brother of Mrs. Guy Perrin of this city. Mr. and Mrs. George Cornish are back at their home in Roseburg, following a vacation trip. They were accompanied as far as Idaho Falls, Idaho, by their nephew, Don Porter, who took the bus there for Phiilipsburg, Mont, to visit his sister, Mrs. Kermit Fessler. Mr. and Mrs. Cornish went on to Jack son Hole, Wind River, Black Hills, Rushmore National Park and on to St. Cloud, Minn, to visit the for mer's sister, Mrs. Kathryn Fred ricks, and family. They visited oth er relatives and friends in Mc Gregor and Jacobson, Minn, before going up the north shore of Lake Superior into Canada to join the former's old school friend, May nard Revell, and his wife, for a trip to Kenora, Ontario, to vaca tion and fish. From there Mr. and Mrs. Cornish went to Banff and back into Idaho to visit the lat ter's niece, Mrs. Ralph Eckhart, and her husband, at Port Hill. In Elmira, Wash, they visited her sis ter, Vivian Cochran, and in Seattle with Mr. Cornish's brother, Edwin Cornish, and family.
