G. Scott of this city, became the bride of James Tofell. Both the bride and bridegroom teach in the Roseburg School System. Jones Descendants Gather At Annual Reunion Of Clan The gathering of the Jones clan, descendants of Charles and Can dace (Klady) Jones took place Sunday at Stearns Park at "Oak land. The occasion was , the 29th annual reunion. 1 Charles Jones and Candace Kla dy married in 1855. They settled, reared a family of 12 six sons and six daughters and lived all of tlieir lives in or near Oakland. Three of the four who are still living, Sam Jones and Mrs. Alice Weatherly of Oakland, Ore., and Mrs. Mable Neal of Oakland, Calif., were present. Kelly Jones of Pen dleton did not attend. Besides these, a large number of the local people were present as were some from more distant parts. Chuck Adams from South San Gabriel, Calif., came the farthest. The oldest descendant present Belieu Family Has Reunion At Park In Camas Valley The 11th annual picnic and re union of the Belieu family was held Sunday at the Camas Moun tain Wayside Park. The table was beautifully decor ated with a large bouquet of glad ioli, arranged by Mrs. Bill Schmidt. Those attending were Mr; and Mrs. M. 0. Birch, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Ashton, Dorothy Heath, Irene Edwards, Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Belieu and Mrs. Ida Knowlton, Coos Bay. Anderson of Co quille; Mrs. Mike Kirkendall of Saginaw; Mildred Roberts and Glenn Taylor from Roseburg; Mr. Mrs. Bill Weber Is Feted By Members Of Xi Omicron Mrs. Bill Weber was honored Fri day morning when her friends in Xi Omicron, Beta Sigma Phi, call ed at her home to surprise her with a coffee. Mrs. Weber is leav ing Roseburg to make her home in Portland where her husband has been transferred by Pacifc Power and Light. A lovely gift was given to her from her chapter sisters. Mrs. K. L. Wiley was in charge was Sam Jones, 86. Next in line is Mrs. Weatherly, 83, and Mable Neal, 80. All are active and en joying life and looking forward to attending future reunions. The youngest present was 19-month-old Wendy Lynn Fox, a member of the fifth generation. At the 1961 reunion, Charles Neal, president, suggested that the history of the Jones family be writ ten and printed in loose-leaf form (for future additions) and made available to members of the fam ily. Much research and hard work resulted in the appearance of the booklets at this year's reunion. A delicious picnic dinner was en joyed, and the day was brought to a close with a business meet ing at which Ted Jones- of Berk eley was named president, and his wife, secretary. and Mrs. W. C. Bryant and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Branson from Myr tle Point; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Kirkendall and daughter, Marie; Elmer Kirkendall, Mrs. Bill Busch, Mrs. Bill Schmidt and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Davis, all of Camas Valley. The business meeting followed the potluck. Mrs. Bill Busch and Mrs. Lula Burch were elected to serve on the committee for the 1964 picnic, which will be held the same place. Mrs. Roy Bronson of Myrtle Point won the bouquet of gladioli that had been used for the table decorations. of the affair ' which took place around the swimming pool at the Weber 'home. Beautifully gowned in a floor- length white organza wedding dress, Kathleen Mae Scott become the bride of James Tofell at 1 p.m. at St, Joseph's Catholic Church in Roseburg, Saturday, Aug. S. The bridesmaids and maid of honor preceded the bride down the aisle of the church. As the bnde approached the sanctuary on the arm of her father, the bridegroom stepped forward to claim her and escort her to the foot of the altar, where they exchanged their wed ding vows in a simple but impres sive double ring ceremony. The Rev. Marion Corgin officiated. Bar bara Martin, accompanied by or ganist Mrs. Robert Fabian, sang the Ave Maria. The bride's gown her something borrowed from Mrs. Bruce (Lu cinda Randall) Brenn was of white organza fashioned with . a princess bodice of embroidered or gandy with square scalloped neck line at front and back and tiny cap sleeves. The hemline and chap el train were banded with white embroidery to match the bodice. Her short veil was held in place by a crown of pearls. She carried a white prayer book topped by white rosebuds and stephanotis. The maid of honor. Mrs. Joseph Schaffeld, of Portland, and brides maids, Mrs. Scott Kirk of Eugene and Patti Sinner, cousin of the bride, Vancouver, Wash., wore rose-colored chapel veils and white organza dresses fashioned with bell skirts. They carried rose carna tions and aurora borealis crystal rosaries made by the bride s ma ternal grandmother. Tom Tofell of Malin was best man for his brother and Bob Scott, brother of the bride, and Lin Dob ry of Malin -were groomsmen, Serving as ushers were Jack Ko- pacz of Lakeview; Ted Pouck, of Ashland, and Jim Scott, brother of the bride. Beautiful floral arrangements by Mrs.. John William Robertson, graced the buffet, mantle and pi ano at the home of the bride's par ents, where a reception followed the ceremony. A delicious buffet luncheon prepared by the mothers Hucrest Girls Give Lovely Tea The Happy Hucrest Homemak- ers entertained their mothers at a tea at the home of Mrs. Cal Wilki- son as the end of the group s year's activities. The girls displayed projects and gave demonstrations of different skills learned during the year. Refreshments were served to the following guests: Mrs. Lester Baird,. Mrs. Robert Klschel, Mrs. William Brinkley, Mrs. Floyd Walker, Mrs. M. Short, Mrs. Carl Scheleen, Mrs. Pat Jannelli and Mrs. Wilkison. Next year, the group, under the leadership of Mrs. Scheleen and Mrs. Brinkley, will start its first year of cooking. Stewart Park Is Picnic Scene The Blue Star Mothers of Rose burg Chapter 4 held their picnic Sunday at Stewart Park. Members present with their hus bands were Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Hough, Mr. and Mrs. Otis Holmes, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Barnes, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Trussell, Mr. and Mrs. James Fogel and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne McCauley. Others were Lora Trowbridge, Helen Ni- day and Laura Mack. The women enjoyed visiting while tne men played horseshoes. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Scott of Rose burg. She was graduated from Roseburg High School and Mt. An gel College. The bridegroom was graduated from Malin High School and Southern Oregon College in Ashland. Farewell Party Honors Couple ' Members of the Calapooia Sun day School met at the Orin Gilder sleeve home in Oakland for a fare well party in honor of the Clifford Petersons. The evening was spent visiting. A lovely gift was presented to the Peterson family by the group. Attendants at the ceremony in cluded Carol Major, maid of hon or; Jo Ann Crews, bridesmaid; Wesley Melvin Lipper, best man; and Norman Lee Dyloer, usher. The Rev. Wilber Ethell, pastor of the Provolt Community Church, officiated. The bride was given in marriage by her grandfather, Clyde Crissman. ... Music for the ceremony included recordings of the traditional wed ding marches and "Because." The ceremony took place in front of a large fireplace, which was TO BE BRIDE Mrs. Gilbert Mack of Roseburg announces the engagement fo her daueh ter, Mary Lynne, to George W, Hicks,, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hicks of this city. The bride-to-be attended Roseburg Schools and completed her junior year in high school in June. The bridegroom-elect attended school in The Dalles and moved here last Decem ber. Picnic Honors Weber Family The home of Mr. and Mrs. Nell Christian of Riversdale was the scene of a picnic on Sunday. The affair was in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Weber and sons, Gregg, Garry and Danny, who are moving to Portland where he has been transferred by Pacific Power and light. The afternoon and evening hours were spent swimming, boating and water skiing. A picnic featuring barbecued hamburgers was enjoy ed on the patio overlooking the North Umpqua River. A gift was presented to the hon ored guests by those attending who included Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Wiley and Larry, Sara, Clay and Heath er; Mr. and Mrs. Pat Janelli and Brad, Lisa and Christ; Mr. and Mrs. W. George Krueger and Jan na. Mark and Dean. v Y) J' ; Brid flanked gladioli, by tall baskets of white The room was also decor- ated with white satin bows and wedding bells. The bride wore a full-length gown of white satin brocade which had been made by her grandmother. It was fashioned with a bell skirt and boat neckline and was worn with a matching fitted jacket with three-quarter length sleeves. She wore a shoulder-leneth veil fasten ed with an Egyptian tiara which was trimmed with pearl sequins and seed pearls. The bridal bou quet she carried was a large white orchid in a cluster of white steph anotis. Her other accessories in cluded a string of cultured pearls. r The maid of honor and brides maid wore identical ballerina length dresses made on the same pattern as the bride's gown but of blue brocade instead of white. Their accessories included single blue rose hats with circlet veils of blue and slippers dyed to match their costumes. The maid of honor carried a sheaf of blue and white gladioli, and the bridesmaid car ried a sheaf of white gladioli. The grandmother of the bride, wore a beige shantung silk sheath dress, beige accessories, a flow ered hat, and a white carnation corsage. The mother of the bridegroom chose a blue and white nylon dress with white accessories. She wore a white carnation corsage. After the ceremony the couple was honored at a reception which included a toast in which they joined, using glasses which bore their names. They cut an exquisite three-tier ed white wedding cake, the layers separated by flower-twined pillars, The cake was decorated with white roses with blue-tinted centers. The cake was topped by wedding bells on a white filigreed stand. The cake was cut by Mrs. Wil ford Dixon of Grants Pass, an aunt of the bride, and served to the guests by the bride's attendants. Mrs. George Major poured the cof fee. Patricia Osepian and Patty Bu chanan had charge of the gift ta ble, and Candy Morasch of Grants Pass took care of the guest book. The bride was graduated from Glendale High School this spring Her husband was graduated from the Grants Pass High School in 1939. He is In partnership with his father and brother on the E N. Dilwin 4-H Club Members Enjoy Swim Party At 7Y' The Dilwin 4-H Horticultural Club members enjoyed a swim ming party at the YMCA swimming pool and a wiener roast in Stewart Park Tuesday evening. A short business meeting was held to discuss plans for the fair Baseball Picnic Event Of Sunday Members of the Little League and Pee Wee baseball teams of the Glide and Dixonville areas, along with their parents and other family members, enjoyed an aft ernoon picnic Sunday at the Wolf Creek Camp near Glide. One hundred and forty persons were present for the potluck meal served from four long tables load ed with picnic fare. Mrs. Robert Cochran of Little River Road was general chairman of the event.
